I bought this because it got lots of recommendations off of MUA and I was initially quite disappointed.
The only other primer I'd ever used was by English Ideas and it was a clear gel in a tube that went on really silky and actually helped foundation blend better and go farther (ie you need less foundation for same coverage). I can't find EI anywhere so here I go trying out Fyrinnae.
It's similar in that it's a clear (well milky) gel but in a jar (which is fine) but I didn't like the texture on the face at all. Instead of silky it was more...tacky? And it made my foundation go on streaky. It *held* the foundation exactly as is from initial application and did not allow for smoothing/blending (ie more foundation for same coverage). After trying this for three days in a row I decided there was no point it was more work and no payoff.
Then I got an idea.
I've been needing an eye shadow primer for the loose eye shadows I have, but I've been avoiding going to the Sephora because I know I will over shop (and they're expensive!). The Fyrinnae loose shadows I have are beautiful but tend to move throughout the day and crease without anything to hold them, so today I am using the face primer as an eye shadow primer. So far it is not too bad at all. The eye shadow hasn't creased at all, although I need to work on my application but for a first day I think this is excellent.
And a deal! Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance are both in the $20 range for a tube. I got my jar of Fyrinnae for something like $6 and I'm pretty sure it's got at least 1.5x the product, if not more.
