Best. Weekend. Ever.
You might be asking yourself: Um? Mallory? What does some random guy's bare feet walking on the streets of Chicago have to do with the best weekend of your life?
FRIDAY
Friday I got to see my favorite band play for the first time in 3 or 4 years.
SATURDAY
Saturday started out at work at 9AM. I was exhausted from all the dancing at Hanson's rockin' concert the night before. And still slightly euphoric from said rockin' time. I expected work until 4 and being depressed that I wouldn't make it up to Chicago in time to do the Walk at 5.
Miracle of miracles, the air conditioner broke and could not be fixed. It got hotter and hotter inside the library. We finally decided to close. At 12:30. I can make it up to Chicago in 4 and a half hours! Fuck yeah! Never been more excited about an air conditioner breaking in my life!
In case you're wondering what this 'Walk' is, here's an explanation: Hanson does a walk in every city they tour to raise money for African aid. They walk one mile with their fans, and for every fan that does it, they donate $1 to help build schools, provide clean water, health care, and shoes to people in Kenya. They and all those who Walk are supposed to be barefoot as a reminder of what it's like to walk this world without something as basic as a pair of shoes. It's amazing and it was possibly the greatest hour of my life. I've only be...en waiting to meet them since I was, oh... 11.
