... so now we're stuck in some American town I've never heard of, and there's a flu going around killing people.

Fan-bloody-tastic.

What are common ways to keep diseases from spreading? I was never exactly well-up on healing magic or anything like that.

i don't think we're in world's end anymo, event, captain trips

Looks like all the killing's past. That the news stopped coming in early summer...don't feel like an early midwestern summer to me.

Time doesn't exactly make much sense here. Didn't really feel like the '80s to me when I woke up.

And what do the 80's feel like to you, young man?

Well, for one thing, I was a hell of a lot shorter back then.

[That one earns a laugh.]

[Well hey, she laughed. That's a better reaction than most people give him around here.] Are you from the midwestern part of America, then?

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. But it's been years.

And to be seein' it all like this...

... this is bad, then?

I mean, yeah, stupid question, I know, considering things about World's End are always bad, but as I've never been here....

Well, I'm sorry, if that means anything.

All this sickness in the streets? Well look at how everything looks in the paper! This is bad.

Yeah, I know. I always thought it was Europe what had the history of the plague. But at least you know it can't be real, right? I mean, I think somebody would've heard if a thing like this happened in America around this time.

It's like we've fallen into someone's nightmare...

That's how things tend to go around here. At least, as far as I've seen, anyway.

So now I'm wondering...

Exactly what year did you show up in World's End from? I know you and your friends are some kind of...witches, wizards, hocus pocus. But I can tell from the way you talk that you're British.

What's the world like, then?

If it's even the same world. I'm beginning to suspect there's a few forks in the path, if you catch my meaning.

Oh, so you've talked to the others, then? Hocus pocus?

Well, it's 1998, where I'm from. And, uh... well, the wizarding world's separated from the Muggle world - the non-magical one, that is - so I don't really know much about what life's like for Muggles. Harry or Hermione would be better able to tell you; they were brought up Muggle.

And I dunno... I've seen people here with magic I don't understand, so I'm guessing we're all from someplace different, even if it's the same place. Which... yeah, makes no sense at all, but most things about World's End don't.

I've talked to your friend Hermione, yes.

...harder to say, for us that came up from Rapture, where things went off different. Our stories all match up, but none of us have seen the surface world for years.
