So Saturday began at 12:30 when i woke up. quite upset with myself because i slept too late to go to the cross country meet. so instead, i showered, ate, and left at about 1:15 for the dds (the new dmv, stands for department of driver services) So i'm driving down candler street and i'm getting all these angry looks, and then it suddenly dawns on me: I STILL HAVE MY FUZZY DICE UP! Always good when i'm the only white guy there and i've got fuzzy dice...so i took those off and drove the rest of the way to the dds. yea, the new system isn't any more efficient, it still took me 2 1/2 hours to get my license renewed. however, i didn't have to wait a month like i would have if i had done it online. i met a guy from nigeria who was taking courses at emory, and i also met a guy who has a grandson who plays football for MLK.
After getting my license i went off to the verizon store to get my phone replaced (since i couldn't hear a thing that the other person was saying when i was on the phone) You know it's bad when the person at the license place was nicer and more helpful than the customer service guy at verizon. (especially since verizon prizes themselves on their customer service) So that was fun
Then it was off to chili's with the family for dinner. enough said, food is good
Sunday:
went to the high museum with family, where we got to see wonderful modern art, such as the red curve on the white wall. it's amazing how the contrast between the red on the canvas and the white of the wall make the viewer think of the contrasts between buildings and nature. and then the shards of glass on the ground, that was almost as good as the string of lights in the chicago art museum. but the best would have to be the giant felt strips hanging on the wall. there's no way i could have ever done something like that...
i think that the artists are pretty smart though. they realize how stupid americans are, so they create some absolutely ridiculous thing, call it art, and charge $50,000+ for it. and americans, deluded as ever, believe it's some incredible piece of modern art, buy it, and stick it in some museum.
