This episode was really cool and once again, when it ended I was like: NOOOOOOOOOOO! I wasn't so desperately attachted to season 3 as I am with season 4 and that's for multiple reasons.
I agree with most things you said, but I'd like to discuss Jate with you. I mean, it kinda broke my heart to see what happened between Jack/Sawyer/Kate. I mean, we all know why Jack's acted the way he did around Kate and now Kate actually knows it too. I was really freaked out with happiness with the Jate scenes they were giving us so I knew something really bad was gonna happen between them very soon. Because that's what the writers do. Always. So anyway. The Jack/Kate scenes touched me very much and it really shows how much they've grown overtime and that makes my heart melt. Big time. But the Kate/Sawyer scene kinda broke my heart. Kate indeed is not the type of settling down and I guess she doesn't know how to handle the fact that Jack admitted to loving her... Jack sending her with Sayid and telling her that "Sawyer wouldn't let him." was touching, so was the look on his face when Kate REALLY didn't return. I thought Sayid had traded her for CHarlotte, but it appears she stayed for Sawyer. Which sucks. Because even though the scene between Sawyer and Kate was really beautiful, it goes against everything they've given us about Jate this season. Kate just keeps falling back to the 'love' she knows (Sawyer), not what she wants (Jack) It just really upsets me. I think if I wasn't following a writing class this block, I'd hit my hand against the wall until it broke. Cause I really hate the writers for the Skate they're giving us. I'm sorry for the rambling, but I hope you get my meaning xD
Yeah, I hear you. Parts of season three definitely rubbed me the wrong way, and Skate actually has nothing to do with it (I'm probably the only one who liked the way Skate was being handled.)
I agree with a lot of your points about Jate, but not all. I think it's equally heartbreaking to see the Jate and Skate at this point, because you feel so sorry for all three characters involved. You feel sorry for Jack, because you know he loves Kate and would do anything for her, including accepting her with another man. You feel Sawyer, because, well, ditto. And because you know that Sawyer has her right now, but won't in the future and Kate's the first person he's ever loved, so that sucks. And you also feel sorry for Kate (well, a lot of people don't, but I do) because she really is torn in the middle. She's really not ready to be with either of them at this point, and that's because of her own issues.
It's because of Kate's issues that I'm not surprised she went back to Sawyer. Even though Jack has flat out told her he loves her, she still doesn't think she's good enough for him. And though we've had a lot of Jate scenes so far this season, that issue is still there between them, as well as a good many others.
I think there's still quite aways to go before Kate is ready to be in a relationship with Jack, and I think both she and Jack realize that. When Jack brings up Sawyer in their flirty convo, that point is really driven home in her. It might have inspired her "How long are we gonna play house?" line to Sawyer - she knows that things won't really last between them. Sawyer is the one who wants that. Kate is too scared of her feelings for Jack, her own issues, and of course, the fact that she might be preggers with Sawyer's baby, to break things off with Sawyer. So I think we'll just have to wait for her to overcome a lot of that and go through some individual, personal growth (which is hard to do, because she's got two guys mooning over her), and when that happens, Jate will happen.
I hated the Skex, I don't really actually hate Skate, I'm just fed up. (although sometimes it's touching to see how Sawyer starts to really care about Kate. In a way - sadly enough for him - she's never going to care for him)
Even though Jack has flat out told her he loves her, she still doesn't think she's good enough for him. Yeah, I agree with you. Think she can't wrap her head around the fact that Jack wants her and that he does think she's good enough for him. Think she's really torn, yeah.
And yes, it kinda makes sense ;) I saw it coming that she'd run back to Sawyer, I just got fed up with it in such an aggressive way (like I've never had before) I mean, I was a little upset, more like shocked, when Kate and Sawyer had sex, but not so absolute as now xD People at work actually thought I was losing it "It's just a series, for crying out loud," is what they said. I was like: "whatever, talk to hand." ;) I'll just have to deal with this, I hope that when Kate's ready for it, she'll do the right thing. I'm just hoping it WILL turn out all right, because I can see the writers rubbing their hands, sniggering over the last scene of the season, deciding to make it the one we've seen in the season 3 finale. THEN I'm REALLY gonna blow things up KATE STYLE.
Aw, hon, I know it can be frustrating, but it'll be worth it in the end. That's what I believe, anyway. I know that we will get Jate and it will be every bit as awesome as it has been so far. Even if it doesn't happen this season, we have two more to go! They'll get it together.
