We stayed in and did very little besides necessary stuff today. IE - laundry, dishes, going through the pictures from Lily Pons, Bear Branch while butterfly hunting, Union Mills. Did not get to the New Windsor ones yet. Bad me. Did not get much else done, I've been tired all day.
Did get out though. Insisted on it. Went out to Bear Branch and Hashawha. Birds again far too fast for my digital. Which is annoying. There were swallows and some kind of hawk but it was too far for me to make out well. Best of all, we saw a what I think was a great heron. It was standing near the lake as I came around the boardwalk and with a loud, disgruntled sound it rose and flew off in a large circle. All my camera caught was... part of a wing in one shot and what is prolly tailfeathers as it vanished behind the trees. I'm seriously pouting here. It was a great series of shots if the camera had been able to take photos fast enough but it takes time for the digital to focus, align, and then make its shutter noise as it takes the picture.
I've got a batch of shots of the butterflies in the Joepyeweed by the lake though. If they turn out that will be cool.
Then we went up to Bear Branch 'cause the still air near the lake was too much in the heat. Got some shots of a new to me butterfly. Still haven't found it at the online MD butterfly pages. But I will. Eventually.
BTW... since when is a temperature drop to 91 at half past 7pm a cooling factor when the mugginess shots the heat index up to close to a hundred? I need weather that I can walk in a little better than this stuff. I only got about an hour in between the two places. And I walk slow so that was not far... especially in this heat.
