Just memories...

Been feeling rather nostalgic lately...

Booted up my Apple II+ system just for fun. I plotted my biorhythm from the original DOS 3.3 SYSTEM MASTER diskette. Today should be a good day according the the 1981 Apple II+. Computers were fun back in the 80's IMHO. They were so new. I remember the computer section in most book stores being one small section. The McGraw-Hill Bookstore (6th ave NYC) was nerd nirvana. Weekly pilgrimages were a must. Largest selection of books and Apple software available. Ah the good old days.

I was also watching various "vintage" computer videos on YouTube. I was specifically centering on Dennis Ritchie. As a tribute to DMR I will really make an effort to learn the C programming language. iRONically, I will learn C on a Mac. The iRONy of course being the whole "Steve Jobs / Dennis Ritchie - out with a bang / out with a whimper" controversy.

Is Mac OS X LION (version 10.7) UNIX?

Mac OS X (v. 10.5, 6, and 7) is a POSIX Compliant, Open Brand Single Unix Specification 3 registered operating system. The Kernel is based on FreeBSD (a branch of the Berkley Software Distribution). FreeBSD is considered a UNIX-Based (not UNIX-Like such as GNU/Linux) operating system. So I ask. Is Mac OS X Lion UNIX?

Anyhoo. Off to ponder the universes again. :-)
