I've been up since 2:30am. I was feeling gross from dinner, plus I just couldn't go back to sleep. I've had some water and feel a little better now. I think I can go to sleep now too. But now that I've started writing I guess I might as well continue.

Saw Halloween with Dan Friday and I have to admit it was really good. It'd have helped if I'd seen the others first, as I think I would've appreciated it more since it gave you insight into his past and growing up. And I dunno if Rob Zombie is really talented or had lots of advisors but I felt the camera angles were well done. The only thing I didn't like was it seemed he was using the cheap route of showing nudity. I think there were 2 or 3 girls that ended up topless. Or maybe that's the usual format of a horror movie? And maybe it wouldn't seem so biased to me if they'd shown just as much of men too. But anyhow it was still really good overall.

Saturday I went to the Natural History Museum with Dan, Nancy, and Vern. Dan and I got there before Vern and Nancy so we just kind of sat on benches and talked until they got there which for the most part was nice and relaxing. I don't think we went in til maybe 2pm, but still there's no way you can do it in just a day. We were rushing it so I didn't get to read too much, mostly just looked at the objects. I tend to like stuff about cultures and civilations, and for some reason I like nature stuff too. I didn't get to see all the cultures, but at least I got to see the native american one which I really admire. I'd like to have seen the asian stuff too but there just wasn't time. I dunno why I always get drawn to asian stuff...my whole apartment kind of looks like it threw up the orient, lol. But yeah, I also saw the central and south american exhibits. Central was kind of boring but south was really interesting, with life rituals and head shrinking and stuff.

As far as nature, we saw some wildlife displays which were interesting enough to be exposed to but not really the highlight for me. But I did see meteors, even though only for a brief minute cuz no one else really cared about that stuff. I dunno why my mind boggles at the universe. Even when I was a kid, for a while I used to sit in bed at night and try to figure it all out. The fact is it's too vast and unknown for the human mind to comprehend. Maybe that's why some people don't like it...too much to think about and nothing concrete so the mind just shuts off. I tend to be an inquisitive person though and need to know why and how. But anyhow, it was just amazing to me to be right there, face to face with some sort of mineral blob that was floating in space for lord knows how many millenia. I mean, some of those substances are totally foreign to our world. It's crazy. And to see how they were impacted onto each other...there were a few where they looked like strings of metal crisscrossing each other. It almost looked manmade, like from a metal shop. But no, it's all natural, from space.

Oh yeah, we saw a mythical creature exhibit too. It was also better than I thought because it taught you about myths formed to explain things for different cultures. There were lots of little facts that were more about humankind or crossreferencing of myths between cultures (for example, how the sphinx of Greece maybe have been borrowed from the one from Egypt). I've always loved myths, especially of course the greek ones. Some of the creatures and stories they came up with to pacify the masses was really interesting. They didn't show much for greek, just pegasys which is a story that I like a little. My fav is of Orpheus and Eurydice.

So yeah, after that we met up with Cathy and ate at a mexican place. The empanadas were really good but very filling and I could barely touch my chorizo and cheese dish. I had two margaritas which for some reason got me drunk. On the ride back I kept closing my eyes to go to sleep but my body would start to feel like it was spinning around backwards. I don't usually feel like that when I've been drinking. It usually only happens when I drink and smoke. So I dunno what my problem was...maybe my body doesn't like too much tequila? Anyhow I finally slept and didn't wake up until we were back in Staten Island. I drove back home pretty early cuz they had a party to go to.

And that leaves me to here and now. It's 6am and I know I'll fall to sleep now but I'd been thinking about going to the beach, so I'm wondering if I should go to sleep at all. Maybe I'll just stay up and drive down there early and fall asleep in the sun. I'm sure nothing else will come up for the day. Someone said they might call if their plans fell through but I think that's probably not going to be the case. I didn't get to the beach much at all this summer anyways so why not? Although I've already myspaced and I'm sure there's nothing on tv, so maybe I should go to sleep anyhow. It won't get warm enough to be out there until later. I guess that's what I'll do.
