A Comedy of Errors
OK I know I am late on my new years post but bear with me. I got sick right after New Years then had to deal with crazy American football fans. Right now I just HAVE to get this night out in writing.
So I work at a hotel and I work the over night shift. I have extra paperwork to do, and I am here alone about 50% of the days I work. This past night I was alone.
My night starts as I am counting in the cash drawer and I am $2.20 short. Now this may not seem like a lot and usually we can fix it. But the guy before me counted a nickle as a quarter, and dropped $2 extra into the safe. *sigh* OK it happens I can talk to management in the AM about the $2.
The next thing I notice is these settlements from our restaurant and bar are not at the front desk where they are suppose to be. This is more of an irritation and causes me extra work. I don't know who messed up on that one! So I have to go through various button pushes on 2 different machines to get the 2 reports I need. Thankfully awhile back I messed with them and learned how to do this on my own...no one knew how to do this a year ago...
So I run my end of the day reports and get all of my paperwork together for the daily accounting I need to do (and by "daily accounting" I mean I type the right numbers into a program). My program that I am working with keeps crashing out about ever 10-30 seconds, eventually to the point of not even opening. I come to find out it is the computer and have to work out the WHOLE report on my laptop (another thing I learned how to do in case of...well...anything).
In the middle of his issue though I get a woman up at the desk and I need to call an ambulance. Thankfully the EMTs got the guy stable and no one was taken to the hospital. But I am starting to see the same officers, I think they know me on site now.
Finally, after finishing the report I attempt to go back to email out the report. Sadly of all the things I can do from home on this job, I can't save the report to email it out (it's a work in progress to do it all on my own). I go to a total of 3 more computers to find the link I need so I can get into the report to email it out...3!!!! WHY!?
Anyway, Paper work is done do I bit of cleaning up and running around and it's time to get Coffee out. We are out of coffee. Totally and completely out of coffee. I find 1 pouch for my crew and make it, but not the restaurant doesn't have any.
Then I am missing the catch tray for the coffee. I remember one of my coworkers bringing them back to be cleaned, but I forget if that was earlier today or the day before.
THEN one of the flight crew notifies me that the lids I have don't fit! I run around and finally find some that do!
FINALLY (I hope as I still have a half hour left.) I go to check out a guest and his room has been double charged. Why!? Because the same guy as in the beginning posted it and when i right my Night audit, it posted it again!
FOR THE LOVE OF CHEESE CAN PEOPLE JUST BE COMPETENT!?
*Flop* can it be Tuesday?
