I’ve been working at my new job for nearly a month now, sanctioned perving is what I call it. I stand by an entryway and great everyone. They want me to engage each shopper into a conversation while looking out for strange behavior. I’m not an extravert. I have a hard time saying anything more than ‘hello’ and ‘good evening’ I am learning, however.
One thing I’ve ‘relearned’ is that I really dislike people who don’t know how to wear their shoes, and those $2 flip-flops. The ‘click clocking’ of those damn things can drive a man nuts. In addition to learning a few things, I’m asking a few questions as well. Like: Why do we ask “How are you doing?” when no one really wants to know the answer, hell you probably don’t even want to answer. Secondly, how do you think people would react if you actually answered them honestly.
