20,000 days

Today I mark 20,000 days on Planet Earth. This morning I dreamt of life's fragility, vivid animated textbook cut-aways of living systems failing at the slightest of catastrophic tremors. Yet I can only marvel at life's persistence, and the cussed, blessed heartiness and hardiness of every living individual, even as I remain in thrall to the eeriness of any individual's utter statistical improbability when viewed through the largest possible statistical frame of reference. The very fact of our existence and presence in this moment is rooted in the deepest time and in all directions, yet there's no chance any of us are here. Zero. And that contradiction also goes to the very root of all there is. What a tangle! All else aside, I know I never would have gotten this far without my friends, known and unknown, and their friends, and theirs. Here you are! I'm so glad you could make it.
