Shane McGowan, a life?
First Buffy Ste Marie, now the Pogues. My knowledge of McGowan is sparse, he would appear on TV and mumble in a melange of cockney and Irish accents. Now I discover he was a public school boy. Not a Plastic Paddy, comme moi meme, at all. Did some digging on ancestors and found out that - just after the famine - my Great Granny was arrested (aged 9) for allowing "cattle under her control to stray into the field of a nearby landowner". The Irish police did that - they are total and utter (cont p.9)
