Is China about to go to war over Taiwan? "About to" meaning any time in the next year. Possibly. The west does not understand that, so far as Peking is concerned, Taiwan is merely an errant province (much as if Yorkshire decided to quit England). I'd love to wave a Harry Potter magic wand and make everyone happy but that isn't going to happen. WW3 over Taiwan? The USA would stomp about for a while, but much as the situation looks like 1913 (with China as Germany and the USA as Britain) there is a limit to what the Pentagon would do.
