The original title was "Cameras will be banned" by that may give the goons in blue ideas. The thick blue line is assiduous in safeguarding our freedom/suppressing legitimate protest (delete where appropriate). What is "hostile reconnaissance"? Taking photographic images to use in terrorist (freedom fighters until Blair thought otherwise) outrages. ( Read more... )

The Greek word for small is micros. Microscopic cameras, disguised as other small objects, such as lighters, cigars, or pens, are used by spies. The market for these cunningly concealed cameras is bound to blossom as ordinary citizens and tourists who want to capture images have to resort to subterfuge. You could have a micro-cam built into a pair of sunglasses or spectacles, a hat, or a hair slide. The low weight of microscopic devices compared with normal-sized ones also means they're handy for cheap airline travellers.

But some of us want proper photgraphers with proper cameras. I see that plod are using those micro-cameras now to record evidence. Veracity and the police parted company long ago.

Some of us keep micro-cameras in our bags, because they are handy little devices that save dragging a hulking-great SLR all over the place. The principle that you should be allowed to take photographs in public places isn't affected by what *size* of camera you use to do so.

Britain's over-empowered Ploddery could well do with restricting their activities to murdering electricians or news-sellers, since we can't hope for these licensed Schturmers to involve themselves with any dull old stuff to do with stopping actual criminals.

When will the sheeple wake up to the realization that by permitting the rare blog such as this that Britain is nothing other than a de facto police state.

You know my suggestion was rather tongue in cheek. But with a grain of truth. Of course the tiny concealed digi-cam will be used as a way to circumvent a ban on photography.

Let me share my experiences with you. Here in the north and the far north of the British Isles I've been taking photographs freely even on the most-visited tourist sites such as the Ring of Brodgar and Carlisle Castle and haven't ever had an encounter with the Plod. It might be different down in the metropolis. Next time I go to London I'll test it out by using my camera in tourist hot-spots. If I'm stopped and harassed by the police I'll write about it on my live journal upon my release.

Chances are you won't be arrested. The form is basically to see what you have taken then delete (it is illegal by the way) if you say No you will be nicked for obstruction.
