Borrowed from Hernestuso in ecclesiaantioi,
"I just suddenly remembered that there was supposed to be a Total Lunar Eclipse shortly after noon (Athens time) on August 28th. I checked the calculations and, sure enough, the August 28 earthquake near Mount Olympus occurred within an hour of the Total Lunar Eclipse.
It would not have been visible in Greece because the eclipse occurred at midday and the moon was on the opposite side of the Earth.
But the "coincidence" of a quake at Mount Olympus and a Total Lunar Eclipse is certainly remarkable, to say the least. Especially at noontime."
Edit: erl_queen pointed it out-i will give her the credit =) that the quake itself took place near Olympia and not infact Mt. Olympus-Thank you for bring that to my attention-=)
