Classical Polytheist With Mormon Influences.

Now trying say that three times fast. Because that is one mouthful if you ask me. Now you are probably asking yourself what the frak is a Classical Polytheist with Mormon influences and huh?!

Well that is a good question, I have been conversing with my Strega friend, which I have been also working in getting my grounding in Stregheria (if you want to know more please check out wiki), and I did express to him the frustrations of having a path that a.) I'm building b.) it's completely from scratch c.) But most of all my faith is like a tapestry in which I'm trying to weave together.

After talking with him that is when he tried putting a label on my budding faith and how I would try to explain it to others whom ask me what I believe. I figured that Polytheist can get you so far with in a pagan community esp. ones that you are active in.

In my personal journal i summed up my faith label base, which i always disliked labels as they limit us and our understandings of one another. In my entry i stated that my path is Graeco Roman Strega Mormon (light) Polytheist-which i think sums me up pretty well.

Now what does Mormon (light) mean?
That is a great question if you ask me, and perhaps like myself you are probably scratching your heads.
Yes boys and girls I am also scratching my head- I guess to me, that would mean while i have a belief in the book of mormon, i don't adhere to church followings and the other tenants that the LDS may espouse.
Well you may also ask yourself, don't mormons believe in Jesus- Well yeah, they do, but being syncretic i see Jesus as being a Mask for one of my gods that being said I don't have an issue-
However that isn't my point either, Light i suppose for my take and purposes, means I believe in the BoM, believe that the Nephites and Lamanites existed-from there it gets fun- well if you ask me.

I never would have thought that labeling oneself for the world at large to understand you and all that wonderful stuff can be so well, confusing esp. when trying to talk to other people that identify as Mormon and or LDS.

The ancients themselves were also syncretic, and mythologies that at times contradicted other mythologies, and like them I am fine with that. I think within those contradictions is where you find truth and beauty that you may have missed if you just choose one mythology vs. another- Being syncretic sure, i can easily and rather comfortably say the Nephites and Lamanites lived and died-just as I believe that Atlantis was a true place, granted liberties have been taking with understanding of the place but that doesn't mean it didn't exist. Do I think we know everything and anything about these people? No I don't. Nor perhaps will we-

I have to say while exploring this crazy path, my ritual calendar is pretty crazy-I am still revamping it, reworking it, exploring-what a metaphor for life if you ask me.

I do have to say that while being a Classical Polytheist with Mormon influences does make my life interesting
and I'm sure confusing for some of those of you that do read these, other than myself also must think me mad at times. But I assure you I'm not mad, I am exploring the world and allowing that which speaks to me enter in and I am embracing it, in all of it's frustrating, confusing, crazy glory-

"Traveler, if there is no path to your goal, make your own path, step by step."
words to live by.
