cobwebs

I've finally taught myself how to bring down cobwebs. As a child, my father and mother did this job regularly and I now recall my father sweeping the underside of the patio overhang. And we had cobwebs heavy with dust as soon as they were built. Which is probably easier than these ones.

Some of our cobwebs are thick and crack when you break a strand which always makes me think of black widows. But they're not that strong. Almost all of ours are from daddy longlegs--I think the strong webbing is from the occasional giant house/hobo spider.'

Speaking of which , I've quit for now 'cause I have a spider bite on my finger. Inevitable but still a bummer. Sore like a bruise, it's just starting to swell.

A horde of Francophones are coming to the house tonight and threatening to stay until all the work--flooring, trim, balcony--is done. Between trainings and vacation days, I'm only working at the library for a half-day over the next 10 days. It's barely sunk in. But first we survive the house...
