Romdeau Central Mall
The largest and most important shopping outlet in Romdeau City, the mall is located in the central shopping district. Sporting several floors and many stores featuring clothing, supplies, electronics, and other goods, as well as a few small restaurants. Along the walls and ceilings are countless advertisements and motivational messages prompting the people of Romdeau to be model citizens. The mall is large enough and popular enough that it has become something of a town square, where everyone goes to meet. It’s clean, well-kept, safe, and not too noisy.
Just don’t ask about that strange incident a few weeks ago, or the murders.
Upper Class District
This is the richest area of Romdeau, where Romdeau’s elite model citizens are allowed to live. The houses here are all very expensive, fancy, and well-kept. Most of the people living here are the bureaucrats and government leaders of Romdeau. Almost everyone has a house staff of one or more Autoraves. Everything is neat, tidy, and orderly, and people here are expected to uphold the highest standards of model citizenry.
Middle Class District
This is where the majority of Romdeau’s citizens live. The apartments vary from expensive three-bedroom affairs to modest studios. The apartments are all in high complexes, affording most of them an excellent view of the city. Some people here have Autoraves, usually Entourages-it depends mostly on one’s income and importance to the city.
Refugee District
This is where the refugees are allocated. As refugees are not yet citizens, they are not afforded the same rights and privileges that citizens are. The housing here is almost all tenement housing, the lighting is poor, and the streets and buildings are all in varying stages of decay. Close to the edge of the dome, the refugee district also deals with technology malfunctions, unfinished construction, and strange areas near the vents where no one is quite sure about the purpose. The path that Cogito-infected Autoraves take to get out of the dome runs directly through this district.
Daedalus’s Laboratory
Located downtown, the Prince’s laboratory and office take up an entire skyscraper. Everything is white and clandestine, and the staff is almost exclusively made up of Autoraves. Daedalus has access to the latest and most state-of-the-art technology, and his building also houses the birthing Autoraves, located down beneath the city. The labs all require the highest security clearance and permission from Daedalus himself.
Good luck getting in.
The Regent’s Hall
Large, dark and imposing, this is where the Regent of Romdeau lives and carries out all of his duties. He and his four statue-like Entourages-Husserl, Derrida, Berkeley and Lacan -are directly tapped into the Romdeau mainframe, and thus control every aspect of life in Romdeau without ever moving from their Hall. The Regent has absolute, unquestionable power, and must be respected. Only those who have business with the Regent himself are allowed to enter.
The Intelligence Bureau
Located downtown, the Intelligence Bureau is in charge of investigating and analyzing mysteries and crime scenes. They sometimes work in conjunction with the Security Bureau, but while the Security Bureau is like the FBI, the Intelligence Bureau is more like the local police.
The Security Bureau
Located downtown near the Regent’s building, this bureau is responsible for maintaining order. They have the power to arrest and execute those who disrupt the order. They are also responsible for making sure that certain things about Romdeau remain a secret. They control Romdeau with an iron fist and answer directly to the Regent. The current Director is a man named Raul Creed.
The Administrative Bureau
Located at the Regent’s building and with branches all over town, this is the controlling organization of Romdeau. They are responsible for all bureau oversight, and all work directly for the Regent himself. They have absolute authority and can hire or fire people from any bureau at the drop of a hat. They have the last say in all major decisions as well.
The Health and Welfare Bureau
Located in Daedalus’s building and having branches all around town, this bureau is concerned mostly with the health of its citizens, both physically and mentally. They are in charge of dealing with sicknesses and other such issues. People need to be cleared medically in order to get a job. This bureau also aids in the production of clones and in determining whether an immigrant is fit to be a fellow citizen, so they often work in conjunction with the Human Affairs Bureau. Daedalus works directly for this bureau.
The Human Affairs Bureau
Located downtown, this bureau is essentially a glorified Human Resources office. They deal in all matters of human welfare and living conditions. Their purpose is to ensure that daily life goes smoothly and comfortably. They are also responsible for granting children to parents who want them. All clones are sterile, and thus cannot reproduce on their own.
The Immigration Bureau
Located downtown and with branches all over the city, the Immigration Bureau handles all immigration matters and deals directly with the immigrants themselves. These are the people that assess an immigrant’s quality and determine what sort of jobs they are fit for, and also determine when they are ready to become a fellow citizen. Immigrants are required to report to bureau offices regularly to check in, kind of like a probation officer.
The Autorave Control Division
This department is located in the immigrant district, and has the dangerous task of dealing Autoraves and keeping them in control. It is their job to make sure that Autoraves are functioning properly, and also to stop rogue Autoraves. They have to deal with any new viruses that start affecting Autoraves. In recent years they have been dealing with increasing cases of the Cogito Virus. Members of the Control Division have permission to destroy rogue Autoraves, and thus carry guns with them.
