Kame POV

I am walking through the jimusho, passing the NewS dressing room, when something Ryo-kun is saying makes me stop and listen.

"I don't want to be paired with that fishlips!" Ryo says in a pissed-off tone.

"But you can't do anything about it,” I hear Yamapi’s voice trying to calm his band mate.

"What is Johnny thinking? I can live with this stupid contest if I can be paired with you or Kame, but not that fishlips!" Ryo’s voice is furious. I am so surprised to hear my own name, that I open the door of NewS dressing room.

"Anou, Ryo-kun why are you so furious?” I say stepping into the room and startling them all. “And why did I hear my name?" I turn to face Ryo. I could swear I see him blush, but it disappears in a blink of an eye. Maybe I’m just imagining things?

"Kame-kun, how long have you been there? Didn't you get the memo?" Yamapi says.

"I just got here now. I heard Ryo-kun yelling and mentioning my name so I came in here to find out what is going on." I look again right at Ryo, hoping that he’ll explain.

"Like I said, I wish I had been paired with you or Pi or anybody else. Just not with that fishlips," Ryo pouts, still pissed off. About what I still don’t know.

"Eh, what pair?” I ask him. “Are you talking about Ueda-kun?" I wait for him to answer.

"Hai! He was talking about Ueda-kun and this," Tegoshi says holding out a piece of paper toward me. He flinches when he sees Ryo give him a death glare. I grab the paper from Tegoshi and read it.

"So we are having a dance contest," I say, skimming over the memo. Then I see my name paired with MatsuJun senpai and my heart beats fast. I never told anyone before, but I used to have such a hidden crush on him. That was before Jin and I hooked up and Jin became my life-at least until that dreadful day when he left for America to study English. After that, things have never been the same between us. My ringing cell phone takes me out of my thoughts.

Without even looking at the caller ID, I open it, "Moshi, moshi.”

"Kame-chan, where are you?” I am stunned by the loud voice on the other end.

"Jin, I can hear you. You don't have to shout," I say calmly.

"Did you see the memo?" Jin says impatiently. His tone really annoys me.

"Hai, I saw it already. So what’s your problem?" I turn away from the rest of NewS, who all seem to be watching me talking on the phone.

"Let's protest. I want us to be paired," Jin says, and even though I can’t see him, I just know he is pouting.

"Jin, it’s already settled. The rules say that we can’t make any changes to the pairs that Johnny has already picked." I start walking out of the room and then I remember the paper in my hand. I turn around and hand it to Pi.

"Thanks, Pi. Ja ne," I say, then I walk out of the NewS dressing room and head to our own.

"Did you say Pi? Are you with News?” Jin says. “Stay there I'll come find you." But I’m already at our dressing room door. I walk inside before Jin makes it out.

"I’m here already, so what’s up?" I say to him, hanging up my phone.

"We’re gonna protest!" Jin says, grabbing a hold of my arms.

I subtly remove his hands. "It says in the memo that Johnny will not change partners, nor can the pair quit. So, why don't we just do it?" I say in a soft voice.

"Kame-kun is right; we should just follow Johnny and be done with it," Maru says taking my side.

"But I don't want to be paired with that midget," Ueda whines.

"Well, the feeling is mutual," I say with a laugh. But when I see Ueda frowning again, I sit by his side and pat his shoulder.

"Why are you happy with this?" Koki sets his eyes on me like he’s seeing inside my soul and my heart. I just frown and sigh before I reply.

"I'm neither happy nor sad about it. But what am I going to do? This is Johnny’s idea and this is what he wants us to do. I'm just his talent, so I have to obey him." I’m hoping that Koki does not see right through me.

"I'm still not happy about this,” Jin blurts out. “And if that Matsumoto tries to make a pass at you, I will kill him." Jin is really starting to annoy me. Who does he think he is?

"Let me remind you that we are not together any more, so you have no say about who I am going to be with," I say looking right at Jin. He really pissed me off leaving me like that. And now that he’s back he thinks it will all be the same between us? In his dreams. I get up and go out. I need some fresh air.

I go down one floor and sit down on the stairs, thinking about the past. Then I notice someone sitting by my side. It’s MatsuJun senpai.

"Senpai, what are you doing here?" I ask, confused about seeing him here.

"You can call me Jun. If we’re going to be partners in the dance contest I can’t have you calling me senpai all the time-it will make me uncomfortable," he says with a smile. Wow, I like his smile. It makes my stomach do somersaults.

"Eh, okay Jun-kun, so what are you doing here?" I ask again, trying to give him my sweetest smile.

"Well, I came here to give you this. It's my schedule for the month so we can arrange our practice times,” he says a bit shyly. I can’t believe it. He’s never been the shy type-he’s always confident in whatever he’s doing. But maybe I am reading too much into things. I look at the paper he’s holding out.

"Okay, I'll just get my schedule from my manager and we can arrange the practice time," I say shyly too.

"Can I have your cell number? " we both say in chorus. That made us laugh.

"Alright," Jun says. He gets his phone and flips it open. "So what’s your number?" He smiles again and my stomach does that flip-flop thing once more. I tell him my number and he calls my phone. We let it ring once and then he hangs up.

"Now you have my number, too,” he says. “Please save it. I’ll call you later to find what your schedule is, okay? Ja ne." He gets up and waves to me as he walks away.

Little did I know that someone had been watching us, his eyes full of jealousy and hatred toward Jun.
