Just a few housekeeping notes:
I've redone my
info blurb for the first time in almost two years. Yes, almost two years, *gasp*, you've been stuck with me for that long. *g*
Apologies to my dial-up friends, but I succumbed to the banner craze.
Thanks to the lovely
marenfic, I've finally figured out how to put up the banner that I commissioned from
xanphibian.

Great stuff --- and concise.

Dayum, but JM & DB have such great chemistry together --- and frankly, I think Our Darling Boys had great chemistry with MANY of their fellow actors --- but I did love to watch them together. I would've loved to have seen them for one more season.

Oh, you and me both. I'm willing to accept that they only had a less than a year to come to terms, that would fit with Joss's idea of heroic tragedy. But yes, it would have been nice...

You know how sometimes you read something, and you haven't really thought it through on your own, but as you read it, you nod and nod and it just seems so logical and right and true, so of course you must have thought it yourself before, because otherwise how could it seem so completely correct?
Yes. You did that here for me. Thanks.

as in not just the deep end but plummeting into the Marianas Trench
HAHAHAHA! That reference alone is enough to make me love you.
Angelus is a family man; Angelus wanted a legacy.
Now there's a thought I hadn't really considered. I always thought Angelus kept William around because he wanted a challenge, someone he could torture and torment who would never break. But it makes sense that Angelus would take a perverse pride in Spike's indestructibility. The flashback scenes in TGiQ (despite the dork factor) certainly show a different dynamic than the one we saw in "Destiny" and "Fool for Love." Angelus seems to respect Spike as a hunting partner and evil bastard in his own right. He's never an equal, but he's the kind of killer any demon dad would be proud of.
And Angel does acknowledge jealousy, fear, that he will be surpassed, that he isn't the saviour, but merely the heralder, the one who comes before.Oh, beautifully put. I'd never thought of it that way before, but in light of " ( ... )

Yes, I would say that TGiQ shows that it wasn't always hate and vinegar between them--which makes sense considering their first conversation in School Hard. If Angelus had always treated him with sheer disdain, Spike wouldn't have felt so betrayed.
The thing I love the most about them (aside from teh hotness ;) is that they both know what it is to be monstrous. They *get* each other in a way no one else can. And I sort of get them. I'm not sure I want to know what that says about me. *g*
*grins back* I don't know what it says about me either.

Something I hadn't given thought to in quite a while was the fact that Cordy was dead when Angel offered to send Spike away, hmmm. There's more thought to be had there I think.
Would you mind if I stuck this up on CP&D's essay section? I think I may need a Romany!Meta section, lol.

Yes, he seems surprised, but not upset, that Spike chooses to stay. And wouldn't it be just like Angel to try to do what's "best" for people without giving them all the facts? And he couldn't give all the facts because he knew W&H was watching.
Would you mind if I stuck this up on CP&D's essay section?
By all means! Permission granted. Thank you for wanting it.
