Ficlet: Where You Once Belonged - The Princess Bride

So I was randomly scrolling through friends-of-friends, and someone was feeling sick and wanted some comment fic, and so I looked at her interests, and we shared one, so I wrote this little thing. Fear not those I owe pick-a-porns to - they're all in process. They're just stubborn.

I need to rewatch the movie. And reread the book. I think one of my most favorite moments in any movie is at the end when the Grandpa turns around, tips his hat and says "as you wish".

I've always intended to read the book and never have!

I should remedy that.

Randomly, I want William Goldman to have a "grumpy old men" podcast with Peter David, where they talk about how everything in pop culture would be better if only the two of them were writing it.

It's one of the rare things where I love the book and I love the movie, and they're different and yet the same, so it's perfect. Both make me very happy.

I need a Princess Bride icon of some sort.

The Princess Bride is one of the few books/movies that I can honestly say I love both equally and yet differently. There's so much nuance in the book and so many little things that are completely perfect, and yet the movie captures the spirit of it, and is also perfect, even though it's not the same. It helps immensely that Goldman adapted his own work, I'm sure.

I'm glad you enjoyed it!
