And we're back!

Have arrived home safely from Disneyland, Legoland and the Redwoods. Much fun was had by all. Kidlets like a few rides, were too scared to try others and once everyone (mostly me, I admit) adjusted their expectations, things were great. In-laws, husband, kidlets and I all got along well, so there weren't any major disasters, blow ups or other incidents.

Things I learned:

  • With all the special interest license plates and license plate frames, it is very difficult these days to play the "spot the state license plate" game.
  • If you stay up all night to sleep in the car in order to be awake for your night shift driving, you will not be able to sleep in the car as much as you'd like.
  • Any van, no matter how spacious, is crowded with six people and their stuff.
  • People should listen to me when I suggest such a thing.
  • Mood altering medication is very good to take when you want to keep your mood altered.
  • Do not geocache at night in the woods while wearing sandals
  • Paul Bunyan's statue talking is a little creepy. As is the size of Babe, the big blue ox's balls. And Paul Bunyan suggesting washing your hands after giving a little squeeze. Ew.
  • Inevitably, the band you like will announce tour dates while you're out of town.
  • If someone you know is at Disneyland, you will run into them.
  • In Legoland, everything is made out of Legos.
  • It is possible to get sick of singing "There's a hole in the bucket", playing rhyming games and I, Spy.
  • I missed you guys!

I did no writing at all on this trip, as we pretty much Disneylanded until we were exhausted and then fell into bed to get up and do it again. I checked my email twice and ordered tickets to both DBT shows in Seattle in November. Hee. Now my kids are at my mom's house, I'm exhausted and I have 80 zillion tons of laundry to do and stuff to put away. I need a vacation from my vacation!
