I have no idea where my kids get their dramatic tendencies from.

I would like to talk to you about shame and privilege.

I live in Seattle (well, the outskirts), and I do not drink coffee. In fact, I don't even like coffee. Or tea. No, not even if you add eighty million flavors and whip it into a milky frenzy. No. (However, unlike the smell of coffee, I cannot *stand* the smell of tea).

Yes. Yes. I know. I know. It's some sort of sacriledge or something. The Starbucks gods deny my existence. There's always an awkard moment when people who don't know me well give me a Starbucks gift card as a thank you or something. I can never live in Great Britain.

However, I like caffeine. A lot. So I tend to drink soda. Normally Diet Dr Pepper or Coke Zero or Mountain Dew. And yet, if I drink them in the morning for my early caffeine fix that most people get from coffee or tea, I am looked at funny. I hear things like "A soda? This early?" said in a snide, coffee-is-superior voice. People say things like "That's a lot of caffeine in the morning." (Note: your coffee has more caffeine than my Mountain Dew. I know. I looked it up). I've even had people say things about drinking a cold beverage in the morning (while they drink their water and/or iced coffee). I AM SHAMED FOR MY SODA.

Anyway. That's brought to you by the fact that I don't have a cold soda this morning and I want one.

Today's plan involves:

cleaning the kitchen
doing the laundry
cleaning out the pantry and possibly reorganizing
cleaning out the fridge
cleaning off my desk
grocery shopping

Fall descended on us yesterday with a vengeance - rain and huge gusts of wind - and it was kind of amazing. Leaves flying around like crazy, whirling and smacking into my windshield while I drove. Of course, I slept through a ton of it with a five hour nap and then going to bed at 8:30 last night. Which was also great. Sometimes weekends are just really great. There might also be a point where instead of doing all the stuff on the above list, I just go back to bed and nap while the kids are in school. That's a thing that could happen.
