Lu-something

Left the house about 4pm and headed over to redheahdaholics We chit chatted a little, as is our wont, and then headed into Seattle. She had the misfortune of seeing me freak out when we crossed the Montlake Bridge, because I am special like that. At least I warned her I was going to flail around like I was having a seizure. Bridges that consisted of grated metal are NOT my friend, okay?

We went to Rancho Bravo Tacos, which is in an old KFC, and had yummy food that I proceeded to spill all over my breasts, because I'm special like that too. Then I went to the bathroom in the prison cell and managed to get soap and water all over myself as well. Really. I was in RARE form. We popped into Elliot Bay Book Company, which is not nearly as awesome as the old one that was in Pioneer Square, and they didn't have either of the books I wanted, so we then went to the venue.

Awesome times and conversations were had and then, after nice bouncer guy made there be smart lines at the box office, we got our tickets and then I tried to go in, but they didn't let me because apparently "Doors at 7pm" means "Doors sometime eventually after that. I went to the bathroom again, and I wish I'd taken a picture of the mirror, because etched across it at the bottom in nice big letters, it says "The inside is what matters".

Doors opened, and we went upstairs, because I do love being at the front of the stage, but I also wanted a different vantage point, plus redheadaholic wasn't 100% from her cold, so it seemed a better option.

Opening band was The Drowning Men who were awesome. They reminded me of an Irish band, and their arrangements were awesome. The lead singer played some sort of...I don't know. Wire. And also guitar. And also WEE-tar (or mandolin, whatever. you have your word, I'll have mine) and some mouth-piano thing. One guy looked like an older Colin Firth with tattoos and a porn stash. I don't know. They were great.

Then Lucero came on and played for two amazing hours and I would have SO MUCH SEX with Ben Nichols. I am just saying. Because I would. I love how much fun they have as a band and they played at least one song off the new album (which sounded very rockabilly to me) and they just were really amazing and his voice is like smoky sex poured over whiskey and rocks. And by the end of the night he was tattooed (he came in that way, to be accurate) and sweaty and unf. The lights would hit the sweat and ...well.

And then we went back to redheadaholic's and drank all the water because it was 80 million degrees in the upstairs of the venue and then I came home and I slept weird and now I'm awake and I have a lot of things to do today, and I don't want to do any of them. So that's fun.

Also: regarding the subject line of this post - dear girl person behind me, if you are not there for the opening band, and you call the main band Lu-something, WHY ARE YOU AT THIS CONCERT?

And aside to inlovewithnight and redheadaholic: I would also accept Ben Nichols as Dane. y/y/mfy?
