Concerts, Questions and craziness.

There now. Don't you feel better?

Monday:
Bookfair went well. I was a week off of caffeine and due to the weird thing with my eye (apparently some sort of contusion - either the husband or I poked me in the eye in my sleep) I was seeing some auras, so I took an Excedrin Migraine. Which has caffeine. Apparently I was talking really fast. And forgetting to breathe. Wacky.

Tuesday:
Work work, la la la. Drove with a co-worker to Seattle and got out to go to the DBT show and realized I'd left my ticket at the office. (I am not a rock star), but I asked inside and they said I could see if they had my purchase in the system and, if not, there were still tickets available. Surprise fangirl sitings and hangs with belmanoir and mrs_laugh_track which was super awesome!

They found me on their system, and I got into the show, and we stood up front and got our faces rocked off. It's always strange to me to see the DBT after seeing other shows, because there was, you know, no stage banter. They don't really do banter. They do song after song after song after song after song after song after song. And then they do some more songs. Matt Patton, who is the bassist for the Dexateens, was playing bass and OH MY GOD. First of all, he looked like he was 12 (on the Dexateens website he has a beard and looks older) and also kind of like Clay Aiken with Justin Beiber's hair cut and HOLY FUCK, he was rocking the fuck out. It may be that he was MORE smile-y about his job than Patterson and, for those of you who have seen Patterson on stage, that's pretty damn smile-y.

Speaking of, as usual, Patterson smiled at me in particular a lot and Mike Cooley was in FULL ON ROCK GOD ROCK STAR GUITARIST mode. He was posing like crazy and making us all worship at his six string thrashing feet. Er, not that he was playing with his feet. Also, John Neff is HOT. The last show I saw I was a little underwhelmed because it was right after the release of "Go-Go Boots", which is not my favorite album of theirs, and most of what they played was from that. This show was a nice mix of new and old and songs I hadn't heard in ages. Cooley sang "Uncle Frank" and Patterson sang "Aftermath, USA" and "Girls Who Smoke". Cooley also sort of sang "Get Downtown", only he sort of forgot the words. \o/ ROCK STAR.

They ran over the house curfew with "Let There Be Rock" [side note to inlovewithnight: "So I never saw Lynryd Skynyrd, and I never saw the Clash, but I sure saw Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band") and "Shut Your Mouth and Get Your Ass on the Plane". I imagine they would have done "Angels and Fuselage" too, but they were already pushing it. I actually left the front of the stage before the encore because I was a little lightheaded, so I watched it from the back and it's definitely a *different* experience. It was adorable to see the 40-50something guy and his wife/girlfriend in their little western shirts nudging and bumping into each other and dancing to the music. AWWWW. There was an interesting mix of crowd, which is another thing I love about the DBT.

Also, contact high.

After dropping of S&S, I went home and went to bed and when I woke up four hours later, I was really feeling pretty good! I got at least one REM cycle, which I'm sure is the reason. Then today was work and I was supposed to be in bed hours ago.

In other me news, I am going to trade my brain in for a gerbil, because it will likely be able to do the same things, but won't be as crazy. Also today I held the fattest of babies and he was so cute and he drooled all over me. UGH. BABIES ARE GREAT. I'm working on finishing up the BP airport rides (or trying to anyway) and I have a glorious color-coded spread sheet. You know you're jealous.

And hey! Here's a random question: If, say, your sister-in-law was being ordained as a Minster of the Word and Sacrament soon, what would be an appropriate gift. Her church is buying her robe and shawl...thingy, and the MIL bought her a sacrament set (goblet and platter). She's set on Bibles. She's currently in charge of Children's Ministry, so I was thinking about a gift card to a craft story like Michael's or Hobby Lobby so she could purchase stuff for the church for her work, or maybe just a Visa gift card so she could use it for online stuff for the church or just for whatever. What denomination (heeee, church pun!) says "Yay God!"?

Also, I have to clean the hamster cage tomorrow because I keep putting it off and so don't let me forget. Tomorrow's more book fair and tacos for dinner, Target for a "hey, glad you lived through surgery, I hope you're going to be okay now" gift for my SIL (not the Minister one), and also planning a) what to take to Bitchin' Party, b) what to buy for Bitchin' Party, c) where are my coolers to put food in for Bitchin' Party, d) when am I going to go to the grocery store for Bitchin' Party, e) finalize plan for inlovewithnight's visit (Large chunks of days are set as "Watch TV". BEST vacation), and...I don't know. Other stuff. Play with my kids. Talk to my husband. WHATEVER.
