It's been awhile. I just looked at my journal and realized that the last two updates have been quizzes. That's no good. I guess I'm just way too busy. Being in a full time relationship, taking three classes, teaching two, planning a wedding, trying to get physically ready for said wedding, looking for a job for fall, taking care of a home, rejoining the church, and trying to write a thesis is probably what's sucking up all my time. Maybe. It also may be all the crack I'm selling.
Highlights:
Mike and I went on an Engaged Encounter weekend. Now I know what Hell is like.
That same weekend, Mike's uncle, Joe, passed away. I never got to meet him, but he seems like a very nice guy.
Mike's grandma is in the hospital. She is very ill.
The job search is going well. I've got a few good leads. Now that I'm on Spring Break, I have more time to focus on that project.
(I'm on Spring Break this week.)
Wedding Planning is right on schedule. My goal is to get the rest of the invitations out by Friday. All of the big planning is done. Now I'm working on little things: making centerpieces and favors, figuring out hotel arrangements, etc. Our wedding (by comparison to most others) is tiny. I have so much admiration for Kendra who planned (and successfully executed) and 300+ guest wedding. (We've invited 160. Who knows how many will actually show.)
I have awesome students this semester. Smart, intuitive, responsive, thoughtful. I, again, am spoiled by the pedagogical gods.
The Catholic Church makes (as does any organized religion) its parishioners jump through way too many hoops.
My brother and Beck celebrated their 5 year anniversary this past weekend. I'm so happy for them.
I guess that's about it. I'm a busy girl, but I will try to update a bit more.
Oh, one more thing to add to my "busyness" list: I'm trying to brush up on some Spanish so I am not "that rude American" on our honeymoon. (Also, this way I'll be able to translate for Mike who is so incredibly busy and stressed out by work, I'm surprised he still remembers his English. I'm so proud of him. I just wish people at his job had some semblance of a soul.)
