Oh Bugger....Guess I Should Post

Yeah, I've been so busy working, sleeping, and writing that I haven't had any time to update this thing.

Well, it's okay 'cause there's nothing really new under the sun. I've made some progress with my big writing project I've been working on on 'n' off since September or so.

Well, I guess the closest thing I have to news is that I met a girl who seems to have at least a passing interest in me, if I don't scare her off.

I have some longtime friends--an older couple--from the dance studio named Robert and Susan. Robert liked hanging out with the younger crowd whenever possible (my theory is that he liked acting as a mentor, and enjoys the vitality of youth that rubs off on him when he does so), and that drew the ire of a number of people (youth and older) who thought he should act his age.

Now, I'm not trying to say he doesn't like to be near cute girls. But I've kept a pretty close eye on him for five years, and I can pretty safely say I trust him. I think he also misses his daughters, who are grown now. Anyway, suffice to say, Robert's the guy who taught me to ride a bike, and I have many fond memories of bike rides, hiking, and camping at Yosemite with him and his wife.

Well, last week he contacted me and let me know that the daughter of one of his friends, Helen just a year older than me, had been hanging out and wanted to go on some bike rides. Apparently, thinking of me after my breakup with Anya nearly a year ago, he told her a bit about me, and she seemed a little interested, so he invited me along for their first ride. She was pretty nice, and tried to invite me to a candle party her mother was hosting. As thrilling as that sounded, another friend had just offered me a (free) $150 to the San Francisco Symphony's Black and White Ball, and I didn't want to pass it up. Still, I expressed my regrets at not being able to attend.

Apparently playing slightly hard-to-get works, 'cause she (apparently strongly) requested that Robert pass along her e-mail to me. Hmm. Who knew?

Good thing I've only been checking my e-mail every three days or so, otherwise I might have shot her back a message the same day.
