(Hey, it’s in Rome. It’s near enough.)
Well, that’s something we never saw coming: Prosport were actually correct about Bogdan Lobonţ transferring to AS Roma. The only thing they got wrong (as far as I recall) is that Roma haven’t bought him outright; he’s there on loan for a year with an option to buy.
Roma’s announcement is
here:
A. S. Roma S.p.A. announced that it has reached agreement with FC Dinamo 1948 SA to acquire a temporary right to the benefits of the player Bogdan Lobont with effect from today and ending on 30 June 2010.
Under the agreement reached, A.S. Roma has been granted a right to acquire outright the right to benefits of the player, with effect from the 2010/2011 season. In the case of exercise of the option to purchase outright, AS Rome recognize the F.C. Dinamo 1948 SA a consideration of € 1.5 million, plus VAT, payable in two equal annual amounts.
Lobby’s website
also confirms the move:
Starting today, Bogdan Lobont is AS Roma's goalkeeper for the next season!
Lobby passed all medical tests at the Italian team’s clinic and signed a contract valid for one season, with option to extend for another 3 years. "It was my choice! AS Roma is an opportunity you do not see often in life, especially when you are approaching 32 years. At this time, Rome is the perfect destination for me because here I can recover and doctors know exactly what to do to get me back on the pitch. I wish all the Dinamovisti a successful journey in the Europa League championship, in the Romanian Cup, in all competitions. We had great moments in Stefan cel Mare, playing with our hearts for Dinamo, and I hope all supporters will understand that it’s not every day you come across a transfer to AS Roma. ROMA PER SEMPRE is also a slogan of the Dinamovisti in the Cătălin Hîldan stand. Two months ago I said that the transfer to Rome was only speculation; this is reality. God must have wanted it!" said Bogdan Lobont, from Rome to the site or post.
Well. That was quick. I just hope he recovers soon and gets some playing time...
