Summary: Salazar Slytherin comes of age during the Winter Solstice, and there is more than that to celebrate

Flying broomless over the countryside, Salazar gloried in the silvery landscape, not caring that the moonlight made it more likely that Muggles would see glimmers of his Disillusioned form. Godric’s Invisibility Cloak in his pocket, he knew he could use it but felt that it restricted his maneuverability. Once he reached the edge of the Ravenclaw land, however, he landed and donned the cloak. There were too many eyes around the small castle to risk being spotted.

Tonight, they would finally be alone.

Salazar had resented seeing his friends leave Master Dumbledore’s tutelage as each had come of age. He didn’t know why the old wizard had insisted on making him wait the extra three months after Rowena had left. He had learned little from his master in the intervening time, and the regular visits from Rowena and her chaperone were not nearly enough to make up for the isolation he felt with no one but younger students for company.

Gliding up to her window, he peered in, only peeking out from the cloak once he saw that she was alone. Reading by wandlight, she was certainly the most desirable woman he had ever seen, and she looked up when she heard his raven call.

Leaving her book on the table beside a plate of food, she rose to meet him while withdrawing the physical and magical barriers keeping him from her room. He dropped the cloak on the window seat as he entered, then pulled Rowena tightly against himself for a long kiss.

“This day took far too long to arrive, my love,” he murmured against her skin.

“And the nights,” she whispered, “were far too long.”

Had it only been three months since they’d last stolen time to be together like this? It seemed much longer than that.

“And how was your solstice?” he asked, but was momentarily distracted by a slice of apple she must have summoned to her hand being placed to his lips.

“Fine enough, but I don’t want to spend another without you. And your coming-of-age rite, how was it?” Her tone was light, but she seemed determined to seat him at the table rather then let the food wait until he’d satisfied another hunger.

“I suppose you want to see my Animagus form.” The pride in his accomplishment warred with impatience, but he humored his witch, shrinking to a medium-sized snake. Through his smaller eyes, he saw her beaming in delight. He reveled in her small shiver as he slithered up her arm.

“Oh, Sal,” she breathed as he flicked her neck with his tongue before gliding quickly down her other arm and ending up gracefully on the table. While she said something about inviting Godric and Helga over the next day, he regained his form and wrapped his arms around her from behind, repeating the flicking motion with his human tongue, rendering her speechless for a moment.

“Now,” he began, “is this repast really that important, Ro?”

“No, I don’t think so.”

Author's Notes: This started as an attempt to examine the relationships of the founders and got hijacked by Slytherin’s libido ;)
