Summary: How should a wizard show his appreciation to the mother of his children?
A spring breeze teased Angelina awake. As she felt the warmth of the air, she knew it would be a perfect day to play Quidditch with the children. They hadn’t had much of a chance to play lately with the March storms, and Simon would be moving up to the next league this year. Since the younger leagues used only soft foam Bludgers, he needed to get some practice dodging the real thing, and soon.
Yes, that’s it-a great day to play Quiddtich with the boys! Then, Angelina remembered the laundry, dishes, dusting, and tidying that awaited her. Disappointed, she thought, Well, maybe we could play a bit after that, but she realized there was far too much to do before the hectic work week began again.
Opening her eyes, she saw Eddie quietly reading in the wingback chair near the bay window. “Good morning,” she murmured, turning to rest her cheek on her hand.
“Happy Mothering Sunday,” Eddie said as he took off his reading glasses. A large Simnel cake and a pot of tea stood on the table near the window. “Are you hungry, luv?”
“Not at the moment. I’d like a kiss, though. I’d forgotten it was Mothering Sunday.”
Eddie slid over to kneel by the bed. He kissed her neck slowly, causing her to shiver and think of things other than laundry.
“Mmm. I’ve no time this morning, luv,” Angelina protested feebly.
“Ah, but you do,” Eddie said, as he slipped between the sheets with her, nudging her so that she turned onto her stomach. He began to knead her back with his large hands.
“Merlin, if you do that, I’ll never get out of bed,” Angelina said with a sigh.
“Fine with me-that’s the plan anyway. I’ve borrowed a house-elf from Jake for the day. It’s downstairs running the wash and picking up for you.”
“That’s wonderful! What a lovely surprise!” Angelina exclaimed.
“You deserve it. Mum has the boys for now.” Eddie’s warm fingers moved up to massage her shoulders.
“Hmm. It seems a shame not to spend part of the day with them.”
“Never fear, luv. She’ll bring them back after lunch. I figured it would be a great day to fly with them. I know how you’ve fretted about Simon’s training.”
Angelina rolled over and sat up. “You know me so well, but there is something else that I want,” she purred, giving him a lingering kiss. She flicked her wand. “Nocturnus! Lunaris!”
The room darkened as if it were midnight, and the full moon hung outside the window, casting silvery light into the bedroom.
One final spell, Denudo!, and Angelina dispatched their nightclothes.
Eddie gently coaxed her onto her back and began to trail kisses across her collarbone. He nudged her thighs apart with his knee and stroked her pert nipples with his thumbs. His breath was hot against her taut stomach, and as he moved his talented mouth lower, she knew this would be a memorable Mothering Sunday.
Author's Notes: Nocturnus is an enchantment to make the day turn into night, Lunaris brings forth the full moon, and I think you can figure out what Denudo does.
A
Simnel Cake is apparently made on Mothering Sunday, which coincides with the fourth Sunday of Lent. This is a fruitcake topped with eleven balls of almond paste-one for each of the true apostles of Jesus (with Judas being omitted).
