Prompt: #5, collection of notes
Summary: A bit of piracy evokes romance for James and Lily.
Avast, ye salty wench!
My mates and I are set to take a break from studying for N.E.W.T.s on this afternoon. Lily, meet us on the shore of the lake. Sirius and Remus are trying to transfigure one of Peter’s old shoe boxes into a ship, assuming they can get rid of the smell first. Frank’s trying to think of a way to stun the ruddy giant squid so it doesn’t pull us under once we set sail. Join us around three, okay?
Love,
James

James,
I don’t believe you.
We have N.E.W.T.s hanging over our heads, and you and that ruddy lot of yours are focusing your attention on transfiguring a shoe box into a pirate ship?! Don’t you have better things to do with your time? Professor McGonagall’s been breathing fire all day about how Gryffindor had best outperform Slytherin house on the exams. If she finds out what you and your dim friends are up to, she’ll turn you into castrated centaurs. Trust me, it’s not pretty. We studied them in Magical Creatures.
Be good and get back to work, my Prongs.
Love,
Lily

Lily-
Stop trying to scare Prongs by talking about emasculated horses! Now he’s sulking in his room. What’s worse is that he’s studying! Thanks loads.
Sirius

Padfoot,
Emasculate? I didn’t realize you knew such big words.
Bugger off,
Lily

Lily-
Insults will only get you to one place.
I’ve kidnapped your boyfriend and taken him aboard the Black Plague. His ransom? Convince Dorcas to go to Hogsmeade with me tonight and maybe you’ll snog Prongs again.
Padfoot, the Itchy

Ye Pirates of Black Lake,
Be warned. The Witch-Pirates under the command Sir Godric the Bloodthirsty order ye to turn over that bloody pathetic excuse for a sailing vessel and surrender to us!
Raise a white flag by the time the clock tower strikes four times, and we’ll not destroy you!

Lily,
Marry me, luv.
Your rescue was gallant. You not only captured the ship last night, but you stole my heart-again.
Ha! I don’t think that Padfoot knew how talented you witches were. You should have seen the look on his face when you, Alice, and Dorcas stormed the ship from that dingy. Where did you learn those spells? I’m still laughing over the one Dorcas cast on Remus that levitated him into the air and hung him from the boom. I believe he’s still trying to pull the Y-fronts out of his netherbits. And the copious hair you charmed to grow from Sirius’ back! He looks even more the mangy mutt than ever before. When Alice tied Frank to the main mast and snogged him, I thought he might lose consciousness.
Your eye patch took my breath away, Lily. And not just because when I saw it, the giant squid recovered from Frank’s spell and chose that moment to haul me over into the water.
When I woke up on the shore with you bending over me, you looked so worried. Don’t you know that nothing, not even a ruddy, overgrown cephalopod, will ever take me away from you? I couldn’t help myself-I had to kiss you. Yes, right there in front of Dumbledore, McGonagall, and Slughorn.
Marry me.
I know, I know, I’ve asked you a dozen times before, but this time I want you to give me a real answer. Don’t just tell me that I’m randy or that I’ve had too much Firewhisky or that I’m saying it just because of the state of the world today. I am randy-you do that to me-but I’ve not had anything to drink for days. Yes, the darkness out there makes me want to hold tight to you and never let you go no matter what. I’d die for you, Lils. You know that, don’t you? Since they day I met you, you’ve been the only witch for me. There has never been, nor will there ever be, anyone else for me.
I love you,
James

James,
Meet me on the shore of the lake. You know-the spot where you shamelessly snogged me in front of the entire faculty.
Lily

Lily,
I know it’s late, but I know you’re awake thinking about me. When you said yes, you made the happiest pirate ever to sail Black Lake. July 31st can’t come too soon, luv.
I love you.
James
Author's Notes: I’ve always thought that Lily Evans had to have a bit of marauder in her to have been attracted to James. I tried to play that out a bit here, and I thought it’d be romantic to have them get married on Harry’s birthday. He was born but a few years later on the same date.
