Prompt: 8. War Memorial
Every year it’s the same, she sits here through the night to pay homage to a man she couldn’t save. Ron always forgave her these sojourns away from the Burrow, thinking she needed time away from the Weasleys.
She raises her hand to touch the War Memorial, to trace a name carved into the marble. She wonders what sort of man he would have been if he’d lived, and she wonders if she ever meant anything to him.
She settles down into her robes. In the morning she’ll be in Ron’s arms, only to return next year on Christmas Eve.
