Snowflakes flutter gently against the window panes as Kingsley stirs, reaching out for his wife. But the bed is empty, so he creeps down to the kitchen, where he finds her adding the finishing touches to the Christmas cake. He sneaks up behind her and slides his arms around her waist, burying his face in the crook of her neck. Just a brief, stolen moment of peace together before the children burst in, clutching plump Christmas stockings overflowing with treats. She turns to him then, warm lips seeking his, and he knows this will be the most wonderful Christmas ever.
