This is so delightfully... dark. I love the way you're looking at Marcus' nature and not simplifying it. Of course, when "Marcus/River eventually?" happens, I think I'll probably like that slightly more.

Also, this bit confused me: ...she’s far from the atypical being.

So he's saying that she's very typical? Or was that a typo? Or...

It’s going to be interesting to see how Marcus/River comes to be.(Really can’t combine those two names in a cutesy manner.) They have even more issues to overcome than Rayne, with Marcus being pure, calculated evil and all.

Deep within, I think River understands that she doesn't have the safety net of Simon to fall back on. She has to find the will to fight.
