If you've been exploring The City (which it seems like some of you have), you've probably noticed something being set up at the fairgrounds right outside the hustle and bustle. Workman have been setting up booths, tents, and stages. Various citizens themselves have been scurrying around, livening up the place with pumpkins, gourds, crepe paper, scarecrows, and Halloween decorations. There were even trucks bringing in carnival rides. What's all the hullabaloo? Why, it's The City's Tenth Annual Fall Festival. Known far and wide for its amazing midway and spooky haunted, the festival is absolutely free.
Come one, come all! There's something for everyone here at the festival. Like midway games? All the prizes sure look tempting. The tilt-a-whirl and the Ferris Wheel are always big hits. But the real gem for thrill seekers is the haunted house. It's known for miles around as the scariest haunted house, and the secrets of the scares inside are tightly guarded. Give it a try, if you dare. You might want to take a companion, though. Those stories of people getting lost inside might have some truth to them.
Scary not your scene? That's fine. You might enjoy the hourly hayrides, instead. Nothing beats piling in the back of a hay truck on a crisp and chilly night. Don't worry, the drivers have been through those woods plenty of times.
When you get back, you'll definitely want to hit up the food tent, where The City eateries are showing off their fall foods. Baked potatoes, giant turkey legs, apple cider, and every kind of pie imaginable are all on the menu. Grab a bite and talk with your fellow festival goers, or check out the signature event: ghost stories around the bonfire!
There's something for everyone at The City's Fall Festival, and it's one night only.
