On Friday I went to the hospital for an ultra sound and a fetal stress test. First up was the ultra sound. During this we were looking at several measurements such as size of head, chest, weight of the baby and the amount of amniotic fluid. Everything started off just fine. THe baby had a good strong heartbeat and looked great. The nurse started measuring everything and then I asked this question, "So how big is the baby?"
She looked at me and said, "have you had any problems in this pregnancy? Like gestational diabetes?"
I was like, "ummm no. Everything has been just fine"
Then she sighed and said, "well I ask because this baby is measuring at 9lbs and 7oz."
At this point in time I was no longer having fun. That isn't a baby that is a toddler! Needless to say I started to get a little worried about my poor snatch. How the fuck am I supposed to birth that?!?!
Next test was the fetal stress test. During this test they put a monitor on you belly that monitors the baby's heart beat. Then they have a second monitor that measures contractions if you are having them. They put you in a comfy chair and there you sit. I watched the little squiggly lines on the paper for a long time before the nurse says to me, "Do you feel anything right now?"
I was like, " ummm no."
She then informed me I had been having small contractions about every 6 minutes or so. I couldn't even feel the damn things!!
So after all my tests they called my Dr. to find out what our game plan was. I was fully prepared to be checked in and have that baby but that was/is not the plan. I was sent home...
NEXT UP:
I have to go back to the hospital on Monday for another fetal stress test.
On Tuesday I meet with my Dr. to discuss the induction that we have scheduled.
Thursday night I will check into the hospital for an induction. By Friday I should have the baby.
This is of course as long as the baby doesn't come out on its own. So that kids is the update...enjoy. And don't worry I will keep you posted!
