You said the "W" word dear! Such vocabulary is stricken from my venacular when I travel. However, I didn't take too much time off...Just a week and a half...afterwhich I worked and caught up like a dog. Then I just went to the wedding in Montreal the following weekend. No more breaks for me like that I'm afraid. If you read the last part of my third Montreal entry you'll find that I've come to the realization that, "I ain't as young as I used to be...and this may be my last hurrah."

You are a genius. It didn't even occur to me..."Lounging Lizard"...or "Lizard Lounge". Can't believe I missed the obvious joke.

2046?? Uh-oh...I'm afraid you've opened a can of worms on this one. I have to say that when one goes to see 2046, one absolutely cannot expect or anticipate the grandeur seen in "In the Mood for Love." I believe they are two very different films. Just as "Chungking Express" and "Fallen Angels" are two very different films albeit continuations of each other. ITMFL was moody, dark, atmospheric and lyrical in its description of unrequited love. 2046 on the other hand I found to be vibrant, colourful, decadent and spatially irreverant in its potrayal of a man lost in his own regret. Although I would say that ITMFL was more touching of a film, I think 2046 stands on its own as visually stunning masterpiece. I have never been a great fan of Wong Kar Wai's plot lines nor his dialogue. However, as my graphic artist friend Kathy states, "No ones captures gorgeous moments like Wong Kar Wai. If film images were meals, his would be gourmet. So deliciously decadent in their richness." Plus, this film finally answered a question that you and I debated about before..."What the HELL was he doing with that damn tree in Cambodia back in ITMFL?!?!?" Now we know :).
