Character Personality:
When meeting with Alois for the first time, it probably wouldn’t even cross one’s mind that this kid has gone through numerous hardships in his life. Alois often seems to be in a very cheerful and hyper-active mood, and tends to come across as a spoiled but endearing kid, who is just living his life in the fullest. This, however, is part of a mask that he has put up for the public and the rest of society. If anyone would come to tell you that Alois is stable and sane person, they would be lying. His sanity surely is something that you can, or actually must question.
It’s true that Alois is most of time on a quite cheerful mood, but I wouldn’t trust on that. His moods might change any second. So, if you see him smiling and doing a little dance because he feels great, be prepared that his smile might change into a grin of pure disgust, and then you may see him do something… drastic. Alois is has a sadistic and even violent nature. The misfortune and suffering of others gives him great joy. But no matter how he abuses those poor victims (usually his servants) he does it with childish innocence as his conscience seems to stay clean and untouched, he is just like any normal kid who is playing with his toys. He’s also bit of a narcissist, as can be seen in is speech manner; he often talks like he is superior to others by mocking and looking down on other people. It’s also notable that he tends to use words and language that is hardly considered proper for someone at his age or someone of such high social status. But it’s not only his mouth that is inappropriate; the whole context about personal space is completely alien to Alois. He has habit of invading people’s personal bubble as well as acting in a rather sexual manner, especially towards the other men.
But of course, nothing is at seems. When we start looking for reasons for this behavior one will see that much of this too, is nothing but a facade that he has made for others. For example, his crude language and abusive habits hide the fact Alois actually has a very low opinion of himself. He knows that he is impure and worthless-and this he projects to other people and becomes one of the primary motivations behind his violent acts. But despite his lack of self-respect, he still wishes to be loved and seen as important to someone. This wish, or more like a need, is strong enough to be one of his driving forces. So far he has only experienced love in his life while his brother was still alive, otherwise being almost universally hated or used by the society around him, which has caused him to bear lot of hatred and negative feelings.
But other human beings are not the only ones he bears hate and disgust towards. Other creatures that he hates the most are demons, however this is a rather more complicated issue for him. He despises demons because his brother was killed by one, yet he still fills his household with them. This also means that they are the ones who protect him and on whom Alois life often depends. Still, despite all the hate that he feels, he still yearns to be loved due the childhood trauma of being alone. And to go in more detail; even though he has showed a desire for love in general, the one who Alois truly wishes to be loved by is his butler and demon; Claude Faustus. Actually, Claude has become his whole reason to live; his true wish to be someone worthy and important is all for Claude’s sake, since he wants to become something that he would desire.
Still, it should not be forgotten that Alois has a natural talent for acting and so he manages to keep his true wish hidden, even from his butler who is closest to him. But one should not mistake his overall cheerfulness and child-like optimistic personality traits to be just lies to fool everyone. He does enjoy his rich life and tries to take advantage of the chance to live out his childhood, which he never had while he was little. After all, he is like a little child in many ways; he has short attention-span and grows bored to things quite fast, almost as if nothing was enough to satisfy him. He also constantly craves to be the center of attention, which is why he sometimes acts bit silly and do childish things.
Character Strengths:
He is very fabulous dancer! ..yes this is his most important ability.
Physically, Alois is in decent shape and has built a pretty good figure, all thanks to his childhood when his whole survival depended on stealing from others and later working as a slave. But he still is nothing more than a normal teenager and still in the middle of growing so he doesn’t posses any special kind of strength. But what he lacks in the power and strength department he surely makes up for it with his agility and balance. A canon example would be when he jumped off of the second floor’s banister down to the first floor and survived without any kind of injury from landing. He also showed a skill for sword fighting when was challenged to a duel by Ciel and pretty much beat him up, despite Alois’ claims of having never dueled against with anyone before.
Additionally, Alois is skilled in manipulating people. He has no qualms about using any methods at his disposal. As an example; he managed to gain such a high position in society as Earl because of his talent in seduction. He doesn’t mind using his sexual appeal if it means that he can get what he desires. Of course he knows how to control and manipulate people by other ways than just through sex. He is flawless liar and knows how to put up a perfect act in order to fool people. With his acting he could fool almost everyone in the Trancy family to believe that he actually was the missing heir of the household (and those who he didn’t, he silenced them with money).
Character Weaknesses:
Alois’ main weakness is that he is extremely emotional and rather open about it. When he is happy he’ll let the whole world know by going dancing around the place throwing rose petals around. And when he is sad, he will cry and scream like a little child. And because of this loyalty towards his feelings he is quite vulnerable to mental attacks and is easily upset if you manage to push the right buttons.
Because of his rough and traumatic events in his childhood Alois has formed a few fears such as an irrational phobia of darkness and being helpless, the latter is reason is why he tries to be in control of each situation. But more than anything else; Alois is afraid of being alone- this trauma was born when he lost his entire family at a very young age. When he is alone he feels helpless which even heightens his sense of worthlessness. But even though this trauma is his driving force and he is willing to do almost anything to avoid of being alone, it’s still something you probably wouldn’t notice at first because Alois can hide it well with actions that may look confident, but once you’ve managed to step on this sensitive subject, all those facades will come crashing down and he will cry or even beg not to be left alone.
Why your character should be a Meister:
It’s true that he may not be the best leader. He is reckless and there is chance for his weapon to get injured by his actions. But Alois is someone who relies and depends on other people a lot. Sure, physically he knows how to survive by himself if there is no other choice, but he would much prefer (and on many emotional levels, needs) to have someone there for him. He needs to have someone who he can depend on, someone to protect him, fight for him and someone just to.. be with him.
Alois isn’t one to support and protect others unless it would help him in some way, and he needs to feel that he has the upper hand. So he probably wouldn’t make very good weapon.
