I had lunch with Leo today. He told me his brother died and showed me the obit from the New York Times. It was a nice big obit done by the NYT Obit staff and there was even a quote in it from Leo. Art used to be a TV game show host. His last gig was some incarnation of the Family Feud and he was the man on about eight or nine other highly forgettable shows. Like Leo he was successful because he was nice to people and he always showed up on time. Art changed his last name when he got a regular job in radio after WWII. Elimchick was too much for radio. Leo changed his name to his brother's last name because they were brothers and they did not have other family and he was fine with ditching Elimchick. They both wanted to assimilate and become successful. Art was older than Leo, in his late 70s, and had a lot of health problems that he had not told anyone about.
I've been wanting to go to Iowa to look at the Worlds courses this weekend and I can get away from work because the boss is going on vacation, but I don't have any yah hah money. Leo gave me a small job and so did J. J's job I did tonight and I'll collect $100 for it. Trying to keep a slip and fall case alive so it can settle. Does not look promising, but I don't know the judge.
J. is so clueless. Before I met with J., Leo said to me, "J. asked me the other day, 'So what is a summary disposition motion?' So he probably has some work for you to do." How can you graduate from law school and not know what a summary disposition motion is? It would be like graduating from medical school and saying, "Um, so what's a femur? Is that one of those cute little monkeys?"
J., by the way, is his first name, not an abbreviation. When J. assimilated he changed his name from something highly alien to something very American sounding with a hint of Korea for when he would be dealing with his mother's friends. The J. was the first initial of his Korean name but it is his entire first name now that he has legally changed his first name.
