Even with the low amount of traffic, I don't want the responsibility of having to approve every single post. But on a less selfish note, I think that being an open community has been one of our strengths; we've seen a lot of interesting people wander in over the years, and I worry that having to keep the door locked would pretty much put the nail in the coffin as far as community activity.
So if is unable or unwilling to grant me (or somebody else, for that matter) maintainer powers, I'd suggest either:
1. Change community membership to moderator-approved, but give full posting rights to all members. I'm not thrilled about this option, but I could live with it as a moderator.
2. You need to step back up and handle the responsibility of being a maintainer. I'm not trying to be disrespectful; you did a great job when you were active, but we can't ignore the facts here.
