You know, I am pretty sure I can't be the only one who thinks this doesn't suit me. I mean, aside from the whole slavery thing which is clearly moronic -- I'm really not sure this look is flattering on me. Tight leather is more a Sheppard thing, and since I'm not planning on romancing any alien priestesses soon it's clearly not something I'm going ( Read more... )

[So here's a Death - still topless, because she's not putting that ouchy beaded bikini back on, and armour really isn't her thing, but with her hair a bit thicker so she really is pretty decent - sitting on a rock nearby and watching you]

Yeah, you know, Rodney, I don't think it's that flattering for anyone. John'd have trouble pulling that look off, too.

[ Wha-- ]

You know John? I mean, is he here? I mean he was but I haven't seen him for months, is he back? Did he arrive with Radek -- he didn't tell me that! Where is he?

I don't think he's here. I haven't seen him.

I just know John the same way I know everyone.

Oh. And how is that.

... Please don't tell me you run this place. Because I can't imagine you're an ancient, ancients don't get stuck in weird VE's that force you to dress like an audition for Rocky Horror.

Don't be silly. I don't run it, and it's not a VE. Anyway, I don't mean everyone here. I mean everyone.

I meet everyone, that's how. At least twice.

What do you mean it's -- and why are you--

No, you know what? Clearly you have some hippy spiritual theory going on -- I am assuming this explains your current nudist trend -- and I really have better things to do than be told about ley-lines and magic stones.

Why is everyone making such a fuss just because I took my top off? It's not like you can see anything. Humans get embarrassed about such silly things sometimes.

Anyway, ley-lines aren't really my thing, and the only really magic stones I know are Dream's rubies. Don't worry, I won't go on about those. I just know it's not a VE because if it was a VE, I couldn't be in it.

I shouldn't be here. Nor should Del. If time's still passing - like it would if this was a VE - the universe would just... break down. It would be like when Dream was captured, only worse. Trust me, if this was even a bit real in any sense of the word, we'd know about it. And VEs are still real.

Oh, because clearly you have a better idea about what is going on, hm?

Nope. That's the weirdest part. It's like being mortal all the time. And I can't even access my realm from here, and that's insane; my realm's everywhere. By definition.

I mean, if I could get to my realm, I could get to my gallery and find out what Destiny knows about this place. Or Dream, even. If you're right and it is a VE, I bet Dream'd know more about it than I do.

But I can't get into my gallery anyway, so I suppose it's a moot point.

I can see why the Prodigal likes acting mortal, though. It's fun! Especially when you know you don't have to die in twenty-four hours, because that always hurts.

This is great, though. Absolutely, seriously supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

... Have you been taking drugs? Or eating funny looking fruit? Or -- actually, any fruit at all in this place. Because I'm speaking from experience when I say that's a bad idea.

Oh, trust me, I know about that. I ate some starfruit in the crayon world. It made me kill all Del's butterflies, and I really, really upset her.

But I don't take drugs. It's funny, Sexton thought that, too. Humans are odd. Somehow, you're incredibly imaginative at the same time as you block out anything you don't understand. It's an amazing talent. I wish I had it.

I should probably introduce myself, shouldn't I? I know you, but you don't know me. Well, you do, but you've forgotten, like everyone does.

I'm Death. Nice to meet you, Rodney. Again.

... You know, that's a very creepy nickname. I mean honestly? On a scale of one to creepy, that scores pretty high. You might want to, you know reconsider it.

[Patiently] It's not a nickname. It's what I am. I can't just reconsider it.

Anyway, I'm not creepy. Scary, maybe. Loads of people panic about dying, but sooner or later, everyone does, and my realm really isn't worth being scared over.

...oh, no. [Something just occurred to her] What if this is in time? What if I get back and my realm's like Dream's was after he was captured? I mean, that won't be as important as the backlog, but...

Seriously, I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. What is this, some cult thing?

Reply

didiedingly March 13 2010, 17:36:00 UTC
Nope. It's actually pretty simple.

I'm Death. That's all there is to it.

...Does this make it a bit clearer? [And suddenly (and briefly), she's a skeleton with a scythe. No cowl, though, because this world won't let her make clothes, and she's still got that ankh necklace on. She turns back a second later, shuddering]

Ugh. I hate doing that. I don't know where you people got the idea, but bones feel horrible. Ever tried having the wind go through your ribcage like that? Yuck!
