How could such a method of transport possibly be practical?

It's heavily armored and fires anti-tank founds, explosives, smoke bombs, and has an anti-infantry machine gun. You can only take 'em down with explosive lances or other tanks. 'Course I can't operate one myself, I'm just a foot soldier, but this thing's saved my ass more times than I can count.
