[ And this is Rodney -- not exactly hiding, but lurking protectively outside his base and taking notes on the flickering. He's looking for any rate of change, any clue that it's going to stop soon or finally overload. He doesn't want to LEAVE his equipment, but he feels like he should keep an eye on things out here too ( Read more... )

[Gabranth stops in front of this building. He has a feeling that this could be the one.

Of course, he doesn't yet notice Rodney himself, nor is he entirely aware if Saix is even still following him. Before making any further investigation, he decides to test the latter.]

Is he here?

['Sup again, Rodney, Saïx is back, and this time he brought a rival for Yako's attention friend. Oh, and ignore the weapon Saïx is dragging along. It's just a safety precaution, honest.]

... yes. [His eyes are still flickering and he still feels sick, but he's feeling a little better now that he isn't focused on the fact that, y'know, the very person he used to be keeps changing. Instead, he's focused on what's happening here and now, because it isn't changing -- well. It isn't changing nearly as bad, if that makes any sense at all.]

[Anyway, this is Sacks walking over to you, Rodney.] ... ah... ... [he doesn't really know what to say, so instead he's going to lean against his claymore and let the other two do the talking, k]

[ Looks up from where he's sitting and -- whoa, hi Galbranth. And Saïx. With a large weapon. ]

Can I help you...?

[ He's glancing at Saix for a clue to whats going on.

[Well, that answers his question-- both questions, actually. Gabranth regards the man carefully, making no move to draw his weapon just yet.]

You are the man called Rodney, correct?

Yes, that would be me. At the risk of repeating myself, can I help you?

[He resists the urge to brandish his weapon. This isn't the time, not yet.]

Then you are the one responsible for this...alteration in the world?

[ Rodney is picking up a less than friendly vibe here... Glances across at Saïx then back at you again. ]

What have you been told?

'Tis my understanding that you aim to find return from this shifting world, and to that end you have caused this..."condition."

Is this the truth?

We should probably wait for Saïx mun to respawn pff arrogantedingly January 11 2010, 22:23:14 UTC
[ YEAH STILL GETTING THAT VIBE HERE ]

Ah, ok yes, but -- before you make any rash decisions I think you should hear me out.

[he listened to all that with his eyes closed, because that headache is really getting insistent, and he's going to talk now without opening his eyes]

... I'm afraid you didn't consider the opinions of those who do not wish to return... [he doesn't sound mad or anything, so it's clear he's not really siding with Gabranth, he's just trying to explain]

[and, well, okay. he's going to open his eyes briefly to make eye contact with Rodney, trying to show that he's here for him -- like. ... oh, he doesn't even know how to say what he means any more without sounding pathetic. he's here to protect you, and nothing's going to happen to you if he has anything to say about it]

[... then again, considering his condition, maybe it wasn't such a smart idea to do this. ughhhhh this shit is really messing with his ability to think >:|]

and I just got out! :D strayedingly January 12 2010, 00:04:56 UTC
[Gabranth is briefly taken aback by Saix's words, wondering if the man had read him so easily. However, he cannot let it distract him; he continues to speak to Rodney, barely even acknowledging Saix's presence.]

If you have a case to make for yourself, then make it-- and be quick about it.

Ok, look --

[ Hesitates and tries to think of the best way to word this. ]

If this even works, what I am doing will not destroy this world forever. It'll just let me and anyone who wants to escape. If you want to stay you can just -- I don't know, wait to be put back in. And I am sorry if this is better than your home world but you know what? Some of us have friends and family we are worried about and would really like to leave. I promise you -- look explaining it would most likely be a waste of time but the short version is, if this works we wake up from a dream. You can just go back to sleep again while I make my stupid escape attempt.

And if that awakening only leads one back to cold oblivion? What then?

If you insist upon continuing this any further, I will have no choice but to take action.

What? Oh, ok I get it, you would rather force people who want to go --- you would rather people suffer than risk dying again when you're already dead?

Oh, and on that topic? If you were dead already don't you think this place must have had some way of at least temporarily undoing that to let you in here? Maybe they can do it again, I don't know. Maybe you'll stay alive anyway when you wake, I don't know!

[ Glares at you, then glances sideways at Saïx nervously ]

-- Besides, I don't know what action you intend to take but I very much doubt it'll do anything to stop this.

[ IE PLEASE DON'T HURT HIM ]

I do not have a problem with it.

[and he had reached that exact line of logic -- well, that first one -- long before they finally found Rodney] Gabranth, he speaks truth. Think of Yako. If this is her chance to escape this [damn] place and go home, would you really stop it?
