[His head briefly nods, as if in acknowledgment.

However, he seems to take that weapon as a threat. His limbs are already beginning to grow.]

Sai, if I were you, I would remember our last encounters and take this as a warning.

[Shifts the weapon in his hands; it feels unfamiliar, but he's sure he can use it]

[Oh, yes. He certainly remembers.

And that's exactly why he's going to move to separate that halberd from you.]

[toweredingly]

Would you?

[Reverses the halberd, remembering his staff-fighting lessons as a youth, and strikes out at where the slender man's throat should be]

[branchedingly]

[He takes the hit hard, reeling and staggering back.

As he does so, however, he takes the opportunity to grab onto the halberd with many hands, moving to wrench it away from Roland's grip.]

[toweredingly]

[Roland wrenches right back, hooking his right arm - since he can't use that hand - around the halberd, and digs around in his bodice with his left hand]

[Out comes a carving knife! (it got in there by the POWER OF MAID, okay?)]

[Abruptly, he stops pulling and unhooks his arm from the halberd]

[branchedingly]

[The slender man staggers back, but hits a wall before he can lose his balance entirely. He pauses only to snap the halberd into pieces before advancing on Roland again.]

[toweredingly]

[Right, so let's take a look at Roland's assets, shall we?]

[On the one hand, he's got three knives from the kitchens, and a pretty good knowledge of how they killed the slender man with kitchen knives LAST time.]

[On the other hand, no Zoe. He's on his own]

[He considers this for a split second, and then throws the knife at the slender man's shoulder, pulling out another]

[branchedingly]

[The knife only slows him as far as it pushes him back, and that's not very far at all.

Making no attempt to remove the knife, he steps closer, swinging an arm straight for Roland.]

By the way, since Roland may well die in this fight, can we say it happened after the Bateman thing?

[Ducks under the arm, swinging the knife upwards and dodging back to avoid the acid if he hits it]

[Before he can pull back his now-injured arm, the one on his other side makes another dive for Roland, snaking towards his face. It would seem he's wasting no time in this fight.]

[Chops at the wrist of the arm when it's inches away from his face, reaching up with his right hand to knock it aside]

[branchedingly]

[The hand is nearly severed and the arm is knocked away, but the other, previously injured arm is coming right back for Roland. He isn't going to give him a moment's pause.]

[This time, he isn't quite quick enough; the arm catches him, and he chops at it as efficiently as he can]

[More of the acidic substance spills from his increasing wounds, but he does not let go. While he grips Roland's face, the other arms move in to grab his arms, circling around him...]
