I was up late last night reading, and just before I went to bed, I had a thought. Bear with me, this is kind of weird.
You ever heard the phrase "There's no time like the present?" I think there's no time but the present.
Consider.
How do we know there's a future? We don't. We assume there wil be, but we never know, solidly, that a future will happen.
How do we know there's a past? We don't. We remember it, but that means nothing. Do you remember being asleep? Of course not. Your memory isn't perfect. It can be fooled. Maybe we don't remember the past, we imagine it.
Therefore, the past and future are uncertain. Only the present is sure. We live in a perfect, fluid now.
Therefore, since the universe is always brand-new, the only appropriate emotion to have is wonder.
That's the kind of thought I have at two in the morning.
