the two main areas I 'd look into is nihilism, especially in the case of poop when the artist destroys a narrative and thereby creates implied meaning.

The second area - which isn't even mentioned here is the fact that these videos are rarely made in isolation. In fact those that do work in isolation make videos that push the boundaries of youtube poop; the element of discourse or even just the creative support and validation informs the work in a huge way. Arguably it is that 'mob rule' that sets YTP apart from normal video collage - as evidenced by extremes that the fad videos go to or even the chain poop.
