So I made it back from Akon a week or so ago, but I hadn't really had time to update since I've been spending all my time with
DarkPsycho1000 in her short time at my house. *sigh* It's going to be so empty around here after you leave. T__T'' Oh, and btw, the two of us have been working on an AschLuke comic that I'll probably scan and upload soon. x:
Now.... before I left on my journey to Texas, I promised
bakamandy that I'd show a little of the process of how I created my Asch cosplay.... so here it is. u__u-b I'll try and do my best to explain the harder details of the uniform...
First off, we barely used any patterns for this outfit. The only one we did have was a tunic pattern and a collar pattern for the shoulder armor (and yes, the pattern actually said it was a "tunic" ....even if it was for ladies XD ).
Next....
this might seem out of order, but these were just what I had pics available for. We made the arm and leg band things out of flower pots. Yes, flower pots. - -''
See? Told ya. D: Cheap, .98 cent flower pots... that's what God-general uniforms are made of. <3
All you have to do is cut the bottom and the excess from the top off, paint them with plastic style spray-paint, and add the off-white trimming to the edges.
And viola!
Afterwards, you'll need to find a way to attach the ends together. We used elastic bands and layered the ends with those extra bits you see in the picture to give leeway for the arm and leg movement.
Next we move on to the tabard (I'll do the tunic, gloves, and boots later... I don't have pics for them yet D: ).
You're going to have to make your own pattern for the tabard... I can't help you much on that one. But try to base it off your own body size to make it proportional. Have the top of it hit almost the edge of your shoulders and make it so it becomes wider near the bottom (but only by an inch or so...) then make the slit in the front. When cutting the traingle-shaped slit in the front of the tabard, have it end right below your waist and beneath the heart of your design.
Back of the tabard (with shoulder armor at top).
When making the designs, cut them out of paper first. If you don't have large sheets of white paper available, go out to the grocery store and see if they have freezer paper.
The design should be placed on the material you're using to cut it from... I used a pleather/leather type material since the edges of it won't fray like normal fabric. Make sure that the design won't hit the red trim of your tabard too!
(If you would like my tabard design pattern for the front or back, just ask ;D )
Now, carefully cut it out with a box-knife or other sharp cutting utensil... like those round-fabric-pizza-cutter looking things. >>'
Ta da! (Please note, the design has not yet been stuck down in this pic).
Umm... you'll probably have to use fabric glue or super glue to stick it on, and make sure to tack it in several places as well in case the glue won't stick.
Well, that's about it for now.
Hope I was able to help. DX
