Naruto's Canon Writeup Meme

Jan 20, 2006 20:51

There was no possible way this was going to be short. u_u

1. What are your character's basic stats?

Name: Uzumaki Naruto
DOB: October 10
Height: Sasuke-mun and I tried to eyeball him in the manga and compare him to Kakashi and Jiraiya and figure he's about 5'3" - 5'4" immediately post-skip. Because that seems awfully small to me for a 15 year old boy, and because several people have referred to him in camp canon as the "tall blond ninja", I'm going to say he's had a growth spurt over the last five months at camp and make him about 5'6"-ish.
Weight: Yeah, I actually looked up a height/weight chart for this. For his height and build, normally he'd be around 140lbs. I'm tacking on another 5 pounds for muscle density because.. ninja. Super fit and all that. So, figure 145lbs.
Blood Type: B
Title/Occupation: Genin-ranked ninja.
Home: Konohagakure/Hidden Leaf/Fire Country
Ninja Teammates: Hatake Kakashi (sensei), Haruno Sakura (wayhotkunoichi) and Uchiha Sasuke (morespecial)

2. Canon goes here. Spoilerific, y0.

Naruto had the misfortune to be born on the day a nine tailed fox demon attacked his village. Said demon was finally stopped by Yondaime Hokage (Fourth Village Leader) when he sealed Kyuubi inside Naruto, though it cost Yondaime his life to do so. The Yondaime expected Naruto to be treated as a hero, but in fact the villagers hate him do not see him as anything more than the container for a demon that killed so many of their loved ones. While the adults were forbidden to speak of what Naruto was and as such their children have no idea, children learn social interactions from their parents, and Naruto is hated by most of his peers as well.

He grew up on his own - we have no idea who his parents are or what happened to them, though there are canon hints that the Yondaime might have been his father; they strongly resemble each other and other characters have remarked upon their similarity. At some point, he entered the ninja academy, where he was a poor student; it took him several tries before he managed to pass the final exam and graduate as a genin. It's the first step on the road to his dream of becoming Hokage and showing people he's not the demon they think he is.

Once graduated, he was placed on a team with fellow classmates Haruno Sakura and Uchiha Sasuke. Long story short(er), Naruto canonically crushes on Sakura, Sakura canonically crushes on Sasuke, and Sasuke canonically hates everything that breathes - or pretends to, anyway. Some background on Sasuke, since you need to know his motivations to understand Naruto's: When Sasuke was 8, his older brother Itachi (strongeruchiha) slaughtered their clan, leaving only Sasuke alive, telling him to grow strong, hateful, etc. etc. so that he can at some point kill Itachi. And that is what Sasuke is trying to do. He's the top in his class, the Uchiha genius, and Naruto's greatest rival. Naruto is constantly striving to surpass Sasuke and be recognized by him, and Sasuke is constantly putting Naruto down, calling him dead-last, idiot and the like. But when push comes to shove.. they are also constantly there for each other, risking their lives to save the other's, pushing the other to do his best, beating the hell out of each other. Typical shounen anime material.

Now for the meat of the plot - and I'm doing some serious omitting here, but this is already too long. There comes a point in time when Sasuke - who doesn't know that much of Naruto's power comes from Kyuubi - reaches his limit in terms of frustration and patience when it becomes clear that Naruto is growing in power far quicker than he is. He is offered power via a curse seal by the leader of another ninja village, Orochimaru, who just happens to be an ex-Leaf nin bent on destroying Konoha. Sasuke takes him up on the offer and defects. Naruto, along with several of his classmates, chase after him. Battles are fought, ninja boys are made to look pretty when they bleed, and in the end Naruto and Sasuke have this epic battle with Sasuke genuinely trying to kill Naruto. Without revealing too much plot, Naruto manages to live, but loses the fight, and Sasuke leaves him unconscious and makes his way to Orochimaru's side.

Mixed in with the whole Orochimaru deal is the additional plot of Itachi - Sasuke's brother - suddenly showing up, pwning Sasuke like he was still an 8 year old child, torturing their sensei and trying to kidnap Naruto for his demon. Sasuke doesn't take well to Itachi paying attention to Naruto, and that, too, pushes him to defect.

At this point in the plot, there is a skip of roughly 2.5 years. Naruto has promised Sakura that he'll retrieve Sasuke, and leaves to travel and train with one of the legendary Sanin, Jiraiya. We don't see what happens during these 2.5 years, but what is important to note is that they are limited in time; in three years from the time Sasuke left, Orochimaru will be taking over Sasuke's body, and they need to retrieve Sasuke before that can happen. Naruto is taken from the tail end of this time period; he and Jiraiya were headed back to Konoha when he was snatched from his bed and deposited in the woods in camp.

A few things to note:

It's important to understand that Naruto's entire life for the last several years has been devoted to becoming stronger so he can bring Sasuke home. Sasuke is, really, the center of his universe at this time - he is, frankly, obssessed. He promised Sakura he'd bring Sasuke home, and that's what he'll do, or he'll die trying.

Kakashi-sensei says Naruto's special gift is making people like him in a short period of time (unless you're his village, apparently), and there are a number of people whose lives have been majorly affected by Naruto and his positive attitude on life. And his fists, but hey. Shonen anime, it's a requirement.

Naruto's camp character write-up. A bit out of date, but still relevant.

3. Ninja powah!

Lord. Another long writeup. And for the record, I hate the Wiki spelling of these jutsus.

Naruto's power goes above and beyond the other ninjas', as he has access to Kyuubi's chakra. Just how much hasn't been made clear yet, but suffice it to say he's a regular powerhouse, though his lack of control makes his powerhouse status less of a threat than it could be. The more of Kyuubi's power he uses, the more his features change to a more demonic cast. I've been referring to Naruto's changes as Levels, much like Sasuke's curse seal is referred to in canon. Level One - varying degrees of color change in his eyes, and his pupils may or may not be slitted, the marks on his cheeks will widen a little, he may have slight fangs and claws. At the far end of the Level One spectrum, he can manifest Kyuubi's chakra, which will glow red and may form a chakra tail. He has been known to bitchslap people with the manifested chakra. His speed, strength and stamina increase. Level Two - more of the same, just with more dramatic results. Towards the end of that spectrum, his eyes are larger, fully red and slit-pupiled, he has very long fangs and claws and the marks on his face are much wider. Two chakra tails will appear.

Canonically, Jiraiya has said that Naruto shouldn't go that far; he loses control, and the best thing to do in that case is slap a special paper seal on him to lock down his chakra. This actually came to light in the manga after I'd played him going Level Two, so I'm modifying this a bit to keep camp canon smooth and say that it's at the far end of Level Two that he starts having problems- in other words, just before a third tail appears. He may struggle with it, depending on the circumstances, but he probably won't have serious issues till that third tail hits. Just how bad those issues will be depends on what future manga chapters show.

Addendum: Chapter 291 of the manga has stated that Naruto's made it to at least 4 tails - once he hits that point, he's pure destructive power with no intelligent thought behind it. Whatever he does at this Level, it was enough to rip Jiraiya apart. I'll edit this as more comes to light.

Naruto has healing powers like woah. He's had a fist punched through his chest in canon and survived that, healing almost immediately in his Kyuubified state. I've chosen to take some liberties with this and make him a bit more vulnerable, because near-invincibility isn't much fun. In camp canon, if he has a bad wound that for some reason can't be closed, he can die. (i.e., getting a large tree branch shoved through his back and then not removed). Naruto also has some issues in camp with the seal that keeps Kyuubi locked away, and when he's having issues, the Kyuubi chakra can't heal him. This doesn't happen often, though.

On a sort of medical/healing related note, Naruto doesn't use the moogles. He doesn't trust camp with them, and like a good shounen retard, doesn't think he really needs them anyway. I have no plans to ever kill him off, I have no desire to deal that kind of emo to camp, but the lack of moogles gives me the option of getting him all kinds of messed up in serious fights.

Jutsus - Ninja Tricks of the Trade
  • Kage Bunshin no Jutsu - One of Naruto's three series signature jutsus. It allows him to create living clones of himself; they may bleed, they share his chakra, you can't tell them from the real thing They can either be dismissed or will disappear if injured. No one knows how they are controlled, though since they can act in concert, it seems likely to me Naruto has some mental control over them - which says a LOT about his mental capabilities, especially when he uses Taju Kage Bunshin no Jutsu.
  • Taju Kage Bunshin no Jutsu - Lots of clones. LOOOTS of clones. Thousands, even.
  • Rasengan - Another of Naruto's signature jutsus. He gathers a ball of spinning chakra in his hand and can blow holes through things with it. The strength can be adjusted to fit Naruto's needs. It's a very high-level jutus, one that the Yondaime created and which took Yondaime years to perfect. It only took Naruto a matter of days. Shortly after mastering it (while, presumably, he was still fairly weak at it) he got in a fight wherein he blew a water tower to holy hell. Rasengan's fuck-all strong.
  • Odama Rasengan - Similar to the regular Rasengan, though a clone that is also using Rasengan joins his jutsu with the real Naruto's to create an even more powerful ball of chakra.
  • Kuchiyose no Jutsu - This is a summoning technique. Naruto has a contract - written in blood - wherein he can summon frogs/toads. It doesn't sound that impressive until you meet Gama Bunta, who'se the equivalent of a toad mob boss, several stories tall and kick-ass cool. For the purposes of camp, I've made it that Naruto can only summon the small, dumber frogs; anything larger would enable him to contact the outside world, which is a camp no-no.
  • Oiroke no Jutsu (Sexy no Jutsu) - Aaaand Naruto's final signature jutsu; turning into a sexy naked chick! Naruto actually taught several campers this jutsu to beat a plague that was thought to target firstborn sons, and created some serious camp mayhem when Ash Ketchum somehow twisted the jutsu into turning him into a boy!cow that squirts milk.
  • Haremu no Jutsu - Same as above, but there's multiple naked chicks!
  • Bunshin Taiatari - I'm not 100% sure on this one, but I believe it's when he falls on someone from above with clones and slams them with a body blow.
  • Sennen Goroshi (One Thousand Years of Death) - In short? The butt poke. Clasp your hands together, stick out your pointer fingers, and jab your target in the ass. Combined with some other weapons, it's actually a fairly decent offensive move. In camp, though? Totally for comedic effect. XD
  • Henge no Jutsu - A jutsu used to turn oneself into someone else, at least physically. One of the most basic ninja moves, Naruto had a great deal of trouble with it because he has so much chakra, and his control is less than stellar. It's easier for him to create 2000 clones than just one. He can do it now without problems, however.
  • Konbi Henge - Naruto changing himself, plus another person, into something else. In canon, he changed Gamabunta into Kyuubi using Gamabunta's chakra, as at the time he wasn't powerful enough to do it on his own. I play him powerful enough to do it himself now.
  • Shihohappo Shuriken - Naruto and his clones throwing a whole bunch of shuriken (throwing stars) at a target from all different directions
  • Uzumaki Naruto Rendan - A move that Naruto pretty much ripped off from Sasuke and modified for his own use. Four clones kick someone into the air where either another clone or Naruto himself falls on the target from above and smashes them to the ground with a kick.
  • Uzumaki Naruto Nisen Rendan - Same as above, but uses two thousand clones. Yeah, someone will get the shit kicked out of them with this one.
  • Kawarimi no Jutsu - This is where a person replaces themselves with another object. For example, someone thows kunai at Naruto, and it appears he's been hit.. and then Naruto turns into a log and the attacker has to find where he's hidden himself. Generally, the ninja will use whatever's handy - logs, leaves, etc.
  • Sooper Sekrit Jutsu - The manga hasn't told us what this is yet, just that it's bad news if Naruto uses it. lsdfdkjCAN'TWAIT
4. Friends/Foes

Relationship List

I guess that's about it for now. I'll update this as things are revealed, but this should be enough for any characters with special powers to get some idea of where Naruto stands in terms of those powers.
