Rough Seas for the Good Ship Roku

After having disappeared for so long, I thought I’d raise my hand and wave a bit, and let my friends know that I’m still alive.

In the preceding four weeks, I was away from LJ mostly due to work responsibilities. While battling my usual case of bronchitis (characterized by an annoying honking cough), I was trying to fulfill family interactions ( ( Read more... )

Hey, Roke! I'm sorry to hear you're so under the weather, and please don't even start to describe this entry as whining. :P Seriously. Even if you insist on believing that it is whining, which it ain't, then you've got a hell of a lot of patience owed to you on that front that's been building up over the course of about five years ( ... )

Thanks for the good wishes, although I had a giggle at being "pneumatic." I honestly feel as if I've been puffed up with a pneumatic air pump; the Zithromax antibiotic has me so swollen through my middle, I feel like I'm eight months pregnant again (never made it to nine the first time.)

Anyway, I plan to follow your advice and force myself to slow down. I've been making sure I get eight hours sleep each night (although it's never uninterrupted, for some reason), and I'm just typing out a few words on the comp in between watching DVDs.

But I feel so Laaaaaa-zy--until I stand up and start coughing, that is.

Hope the studies are going well.

YOU'RE ALIVE!!!

God, woman, you nearly gave me a heart attack on Wednesday. I was damn near convinced that you were going to die within in the next week, especially after all the craziness of the conference. As such, it greatly pleases me to know you're alive. :P

But please, I beg of you, PLEASE don't come into work until you're well. Not that the musical sound of your coughing/hacking/dying doesn't amuse me, but I really want you healthy and work only seems to exacerbate your sickness. You need to rest and get fully recovered. *nods firmly* Otherwise, I may start bribing Tasuki into spiking your food with sleeping pills.

So don't worry about us over here; just take care of yourself for once.

I will comply with your command, mein lab slave! ^__^ Honestly, I do NOT want to spread this around; it truly is the suckiest infection I've ever had, and you know how we pass stuff back and forth between us at work (from all that kissing-with-tongues; I think we're all too affectionate with each other in the lab.)

Seriously, I too had my doubts a few times last Thursday and Friday about survival; there's nothing like being unable to breathe that makes one contemplate one's own mortality.

ROKU! Oh my gosh, you're sick? Thats horrible! =(

i'm gonna agree with your family that YES, you should stay at home and get better. Take plenty of rest and all that. Don't worry about your writing though! I think its much more important you get back on your feet and get better. I'm waiting for your next chapter, but id rather know you're at tip top shape. =D

What are you sick with? i hope its nothing too serious? my mum's still recovering from this really bad cough, everytime she coughs, she feels like vomitting. its scary! she took this pills, ill go find out the name of the pills, they were really good!

take care roku! hope you get better soon! in the meantime, i think i should really get down to watching Doctor Who. I keep on missing the episodes. <.<

Ja ne!

Thanks for the commiserating; I'm glad that your mom is better. Also, I have to get to watching Doctor Who as well; a friend gave me a disk of episodes of either Nine or Ten, but I haven't had the chance to indulge as yet.

Maybe now that I'm sick, I'll take a peek at the new Doctors.

Gah, yeah, Kris told me some of your medical woes today, but I'm glad to hear from you directly, so to speak--I was a bit worried. XD; I'll pass the word on to Cheryl, too, that you'll be away from aikido for a bit, so don't worry about that. And really, take care of yourself! Don't push yourself, take it easy, and did I mention "don't push yourself?" BECAUSE I MEAN IT. Rest up and get better, then worry about various obligations. Your health is the most important thing.

Anyway, I hope you start feeling better soon, and keep us updated!

Thanks for relaying the message to Cheryl; I feel like such a slacker, but honestly, I don't feel capable of even driving as yet, let alone doing a shomen-uchi iriminage.

I suddenly had a flashback! I had a dream last night that Cheryl was asking me to show her all of the san-kyo and yon-kyo defenses. No wonder I woke up tired.

Thanks for the good wishes, and congrats on receiving your show tickets, and I hope that you're feeling healthy as well! Talk to you soon!
