So today (Friday the 14th) we spent the day in Aruba. Aruba is apparently a very dry place - the tour guide stated they typically get about 30" of rain pern year. There are lots of cacti all over the place, too!
We took a tour called the "See & Sea Island Tour" this afternoon at 1pm. We were *supposed* to take a scenic cruise on a little vessel that has an underwater observatory that sits 5 feet below the surface of the water and see nifty fish and the wreck of the Antilla, a 440 foot German freighter sunk during WWII, but because the water was quite choppy today we didn't get to do that part, so it was just the bus tour part. So I guess it was just the "See Island Tour". Ah well!
Still though, we visited the California Lighthouse, the Alto Vista Chapel (built in 1720), the Natural Bridge (the larger of the two finally broke apart about two months ago, wouldn't you know, but the smaller one was still intact), the Busiribana Gold Mill Ruins at Boca Mahos, and the Casibari rock formations, which Minikin and I both climbed to the top of (via man-made steps) but damn there were parts where you had to really duck and wind your way through! I joked on the way down (which seemed a bit harder in parts than on the way up) that after we'd gotten through the tiniest part it was "like being reborn". It was a gorgeous view from the top, though!
We also did a bit of shopping while in Oranjestad (the capital of Aruba). After the tour, we came back to the ship and got cleaned up for dinner, with Minikin and I each putting on our newly-purchased tank dresses ($9 each!) then we went to the casino for a bit where I played roulette with my initial $20 investment for over an hour, and parlayed it into $40 before cashing in. This apparently made up for the $20 that Knight lost in the slot machines! Then we came back to the room and Minikin and I played card games for an hour or so, then we all watched a nifty movie called Me Myself I that happened to be on TNT here.
Not much else going on. Tomorrow (Saturday) is another at-sea day, then we get back to San Juan early Sunday morning and fly home. Whee!
I haven't gotten in to the pool yet, but maybe tomorrow.
And now, the
How Difficult is Your Life quiz, courtesy of
chrisctp Very Easy
Your life has been 21% difficult.
Based on your family, money, political context, and personal situation -- during the important years of your development -- it appears your life was VERY EASY. What does this mean?
Well, the "difficulty" of your life is a measure of how rough you had it. Relative to the world, you had a pretty good childhood. I'm not saying it was really easy, just that you weren't gnawing on a belt for calories. Still though, it wasn't perfect.
I'm not sure what "success" means to you, but whatever it is, you can achieve it. When you do, it'll be that much more impressive.
